Make Me Virus Smart......

Recommended Posts

Guest Bob I

Hi Simmers,Got an e-mail from some DS that said that I sent him an e-mail with a virus called W32.Klez.gen in it, and that his great Norton anti-virus system saved the day. He further suggested that I get Norton, and this won't happen again. First of all, I never sent the man an e-mail in my life, and second, I have the other virus protection system, and it can't fine anything on my computer. Now, I think that this is a sales come-on, and plan to do nothing about it. However, is there a way that I can use the FIND feature in the Windows system to locate the W32 file, or any part of it? Thanks...Folks.Regards,Bob I

Bob: I wanted to post this to you, but I also wanted to post this in the HW forum. So Bob...get smart. A lot of folks talk about viruses. Viruses are a complex topic. Next time you get an email from a friend telling you about the latest virus, and just what to do, go here:http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/hoax.htmlAnother place for current information:http://csrc.nist.gov/virus/and lastly, in my opinion, the coolest of all:http://www.cert.org/Happy Hunting,

The Klez virus 'spoofs' random email addresses from the infected computers email address list so the 'From' email is not where the virus is coming from. The infected computer is someone who has your email in their address book.A lot of people have been unfairly blamed for transmitting this virus when they were completely innocent. This appears to be the case for you as well.Regards.Ernie.
