Just like to know, I have heard some say three times, others unlimited times...So, how many times can i install/uninstall FSX in the same computer??? Just want to be 100% sure.RegardsPer

Well, i have installed fsx over more than 3 times. Didn

I've installed FSX on at least three different computers and on more than four OS's. I must have installed it over 30 times by now and I never had any problem activating it. If there really has been a limit, I think they removed that by now...

About a year ago, during one of my frequent FSX reinstalls, I got an installation message that I had exceeded the maximum number of activations. However, that just meant that I had to make a phone call and go through a voice response system to activate (one of the questions was, did I understand that I was only allowed to install on my own computer).Since then I've reinstalled many more times, always with online activation, so either they gave up on me, or they removed the limit.

I can't believe there is a limit that it is impossible to reinstall beyond. Such a limit would have to be advertised, and would be hugely unpopular. Instead, I would imagine they use a similar system to their operating systems, office software, etc. - ie. the software 'knows' what hardware it is installed on, and checks that it is activated every so often. If the hardware changes, you have to re-activate, invalidating its use on the old hardware. They may make you jump through some hoops if you reinstall a lot (like the phone call trisager mentioned) but I can't see them actually removing the ability to reinstall full stop at any time.

I did have to reactivate once, but that was over a year ago (it was a totally painless experience - free phone call to a machine, where you just tapped in the code FS gave you, and then wrote down a new code to type into FS). I now have two copies of FSX, since I found a deal for FSX Gold that was cheaper than just Acceleration, and that lets me run two rigs across the LAN. But I've reinstalled both PCs several times, and I'me sure I've swapped serials a few times in that process, with no detrimental effect.

You have to uninstall it online before switching machines?

Really, are you sure? Does activating it on a new machine auto unactivate it from current machine, or have u been able to use the same key over and over? Maybe thats why FSX went bankrupt.

Of course I'm sure or I wouldn't have said so. I've done it myself a number of times. Now were I to try to reinstall on one of my previous machines, it would simply move my license over to the old machine, making it my current one of course...BTW, FSX didn't go "bankrupt." MS simply closed the ACES studio so that they could regain absolute control over the assets of the sim.

Yeah I was gonna buy a second fsx for my new computer because right on microsofts website it sais the code can only be used once to control piracy. But after getting your first response I went ahead and gave it a try and you saved me 30 bucks buddy, thanks. I used same code and was able to use FSX at the same time online with both computers. I cant imagine how this isnt abused, but my use was legit so I can sleep at night. Now if I could get this high-end gaming pc to run FSX the way Ive seen it look on older and weaker pc's I'd be set. I'm guessing its config file but I dont know anything about computers. Thanks for helping!!!

I installed my normal FSX on 2 different computers, on the 3rd it wouldn't and I called and even that said I activated to many times. Annoying had to buy a new FSX.

That's odd... After posting what I did above over two years ago, I reinstalled FSX numerous times again... Never had any problems with activating. I have to say though (don't know of this may be a key or not) that I don't activate until I have installed SP1 and SP2... Maybe you tried to activate without patching FSX first and maybe they changed something in the activation code somehow...? Again, just a (very) wild guess, but it IS odd that you had to buy a new version after installing it on your 3rd computer... I installed FSX in the meantime on 4 different computers.

I have installed it on at least 3 different system, probably 6 times, no reactivation. In case that it ever demands me to reactivate I just rather download crack to get around it, I have legally bought it so I have right to install it on as many of my own systems as I want without need to call someone. So, really there is no limit. If it asks for reactivation either call them or download crack which is totally legal at least by common sense of rightness as you have bought the program.

I have recently installed fsx and got a message that the serial was used to many times, had to ring ms get a new number and that worked, then installed the expansion pack, same thing happened, had to ring them a second time.
