FS9 -> FSX Conversion Inquiry

Recommended Posts

Guest GordonK

Flight sim file libraries offer numerous re-paints of the MAAM R4D/DC-3/C-47 aircraft. Most of these that I have found are for FS2004(ACOF)/FS9; only a few are designed for FSX.The MAAM aircraft models are also designed for FS9, but the handy converter package they offer guides you through converting the FS9 intstallation for FSX users. This works just fine: I enjoy the nice collection of MAAM R4D/DC-3/C-47 airplanes in my FSX setup.Now, I would like to adapt some of those FS9 DC-3 re-paints that are freely available to my FSX MAAM DC-3 installation. Guidance or references on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Gordon - Most FS9 repaints for the MAAM will work with little or no modification. If you are running FSX SP2, you will most likely need to get the "FSX SP2 transparency fix" files from the MAAM site and dump those files in the texture folder.

Matt 2218, thank you for the reminder. I am returning to flight sim after a time away from the game. I forgot how easy it is to add new paint versions to installed aircraft. I successfully downloaded and applied a nice Western Air Lines scheme and a Finnish paint job for the MAAM airplane. Add the texture folder, edit the cfg and...voila! Thank you for the kind reminder. I have the transparency fix, too, by the way.

Gordon - excellent! Beware though that adding liveries can get way out of hand. After about twenty something I had to STOP...You have been warned! :)
