FSX station database loading error

Recommended Posts

Guest BazF

Hi,I've installed ASA yesterday and everything appears to run fine except that I noticed an error message in the startup log. If the functionality (that I've tried so far) appears OK, can you tell me what implictions this error message has and should I make efforts to resolve it?FSX deluxe + acceleration pack both installed plus Horizon VFR Photographic Scenery v2.0 (Vol 1,2&3) about 3 weeks ago.01:43 - ASA load commencing...01:43 - Verifying Active Sky Advanced License01:43 - FSX Path Value = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\01:43 - FSX My AppData Path Value = C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\01:43 - FSX My Docs Path Value = C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\01:43 - ASA settings have been loaded...01:43 - Initializing ASA01:43 - FS wxmapping.bin unexpected data...Index was outside the bounds of the array.01:43 - FS station database needs updating...01:43 - FS Station Databases Updated Successfully!01:43 - World Magnetic Model has been loaded...01:44 - Error loading FSX station database - please make sure FSX is properly installed: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow.01:44 - Loading Additional Weather Stations...01:44 - SimConnect found and initialized01:44 - ASA controls initialized...01:44 - ASA v11.0.0.433 Copyright

Hi,The wx station file from FSX is not getting updated with the additional temporary stations that AS is producing.See if the Application Data folder is both Read and Write Enabled.

Hi Jim,I've checked the permissions for C:\Users\Chris\AppData and it does have read/write permission. I noticed that the log also reported this line before the error message : 01:43 - FS wxmapping.bin unexpected data...Index was outside the bounds of the array.Although I doubt it's relevant, but wxmapping.bin in my FSX program directory is read & execute-only. Will ASA be trying to update this file? Thanks for your time, your help is appreciated!! BazF.

Hi,Not 100% sure, but I believe we write to that file also. Make it write enabled and see.

Hi Jim,I think that was it. The file does change its date stamp after ASA is started.I changed the permissions on the wxmapping.bin file and got the following. It does still have what you might now consider a warning (in bold) - but no error. 01:05 - ASA load commencing...01:05 - Verifying Active Sky Advanced License01:05 - FSX Path Value = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\01:05 - FSX My AppData Path Value = C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\01:05 - FSX My Docs Path Value = C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\01:05 - ASA settings have been loaded...01:05 - Initializing ASA01:06 - FS wxmapping.bin unexpected data...Index was outside the bounds of the array.01:06 - FS station database needs updating...01:06 - FS Station Databases Updated Successfully!01:06 - World Magnetic Model has been loaded...01:06 - Wx Station Database loaded: 9960 station(s)01:06 - Airports Database loaded...01:06 - Loading Additional Weather Stations...01:06 - SimConnect found and initialized01:06 - ASA controls initialized...01:06 - ASA v11.0.0.433 Copyright
