Cannot start FS2004 anymore

Recommended Posts

Hi All,A sudden problem: I installed the KJFK scenery by FSdreamteam to have a look if it was something to by. After that I did a restart of Fs2004 and got a CTD: FS2004 loads normally but shortly before the screen for choosing the airport should come up, I get a black screen and the sim shows a CTD.What I tried until now:- deleting the KJFK addon- deleting Fs9.cfg- controlling and correcting area numbers in scenery.cfg (which was a mess)But it didn't work. Does anyone know how I can get the sim running again??Your advice is highly appreciated!Regards, Hans

  1. Did you purchase/Try-Before-Buy product./Pay for this software :(
  2. kjfk fsdreamteam crack.zip free download from rapidshare and megauploa :(

If 1 Rename F$2004, delete the KJFK addon, Completly reinstall FS2004, Move add on / aircraft etc files from old F$2004 to FS2004If 2 dont waste our time :( .

According to Hans' original posting, clause 1 clearly applies. There should be no need to reinstall FS2004 nor is there any need to suggest he is using an illegal copy.Hans - do you get an error message when FS crashes? If so, what dll file does it identify as causing the problem? This info will be useful in tracing your problem. Also, do bear in mind that FS Dreamteam has a dedicated support forum at http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/ where they may have more specialised knowledge of this issue.Best wishes,John

Hi John,I don't get any error message. It would be a lot easier if I would get one. As I said, after starting Fs9 the sim loads normal but then, when the screen to choose a plane or airport should come up, the sim crashes and I am looking at my deskop??? No error message.Regards, HansPS: I downloaded KJFK, as a try before you buy, from the FSdreamtean website. No illegal stuff. Lately I have bought a lot of FS9 addons to support the industry an to show them that it is worthwhile to continue developing FS9 addons!

Hi Hans,If you aren't getting the error message it is likely to be something external to FS clashing with it. The most common thing is video or DirectX drivers, it may be worth checking you have the latest versions of these.Another thing you could try would be to run either/or your PC and Flight Simulator at a different resolution.Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't suggest a lot but maybe others can, or otherwise try the FS Dreamteam forum. They may be able to tell you if the scenery changes any other files than the one in the obvious places.Good luck,John

I second the fact that you should have posted this on our forum first. We have a support forum for that reason so, what's the point on posting on Avsim first for an issue that *might* ( although, from your description of the problem, maybe it's not... ) related to FSDT ?However, here's a quick way to fix your FS9, which is of course the most obvious one:KJFK has its own proper Uninstaller, which can be accessed, like any Windows program, from the Windows Control Panel. So, before trying strange and potentially dangerous solutions, like manually removing files and folders or editing .cfg files, use Uninstaller that comes with the scenery, because it KNOWS what to do.During the Uninstall process, you'll be asked if you want to remove the "Addon Manager". If you reply YES to this question, it will be exactly the same as if JFK never was on your system. If, after removing the Addon Manager, you'll still get a CTD, at least you'll be sure it wasn't caused by the KJFK installation but, it was just a coincidence.If. instead, by removing the Addon Manager, you'll fix the CTD, the most likely caused might be the antivirus blocking the program OR, the antivirus blocking the UPDATE of the program, when you were installing it. And, a mix-match between different versions of the program will cause a QUIT to Desktop. However, from your description, it didn't really seem to be this case because, the Quit to Desktop caused by wrong Addon Manager files, should appear BEFORE FS9 is loading, NOT at the Airplane selection screen. However, the usual procedure to fix any antivirus-related issue is:- Turn the Antivirus OFF- Reinstall the scenery with the Antivirus OFF- Configure the Antivirus to ignore the FS9\MODULES\bglman.dll file- Turn the Antivirus back ON

Thank you Umberto for your input.I posted on AVSIM because the CTD in connection with FSdreamteam KJFK could be coincidence and I don't want to blame a commercial product at first hand as being the reason for my problem. A couple of hours ago I registered on your Forum and now I am waiting for the definive confirmation E-mail....I uninstalled KJFK in the way you mentioned it but said NO to removing the Addon Manager because I feared negative consequences with regards to theFSDreamteam LSZH and LSGG scenery which I bought lately.I will try your suggestions tonight if I am coming home. Thanks again, Hans

But, putting this message on Avsim first, this is exactly what you did. And it was yesterday, before registering to our forum. And of course, email support is always available, without having to wait for forum activation.

Well, of course they'll stop to work, but they'll work again, as soon as you reinstall JFK or the Addon Manager. However, if you then bought LSZH and LSGG and they WORK, at least you can be sure of this: your CTD is not related to JFK installation. Because, the only thing dependent by JFK installation that *might* crash FS9 on start ( and, it should crash *before* loading, not at the aircraft selection screen ), it's the very presence of the Addon Manager, that might have been distrupted by the antivirus. But the Addon Manager it's the same that allow all other sceneries to work and, checking your other 2 orders, I've see you bought both of them using the Addon Manager integrated purchase inside FS9 so, it's sure the Addon Manager works fine on your system, otherwise you wouldn't been able to purchase the other 2 sceneries in the first place. So, it really seems your CTD doesn't have anything to do with JFK installation.

Hi,I post my feedback on AVSIM because, until now, I didn't get the "permission" to use the FSdreamteam forum. Happy to say that the sim works again in all it's glory!I am not sure why, but probably not related to the scenery. Yesterday I used Flusifix to write a new FS9.cfg. But it turned out that the old one was still in the directory. So I deleted the file completely. Then I disabled my Antivirus, as suggested (NOD32). After that I started FS2004..................et voil
