How many Aircraft?

Recommended Posts

Seeing the recent topic on folder size, I thought I'd ask if anyone has hit a limit on the number of aircraft installed in FS9.I seem to lose some previously installed textures at some point, although I'm not sure it's a size thing.

Only 1.20gb. I dont intend on adding any other aircraft other than my level d 767 as it is the only aircraft I fly now. :( 78gb just for aircraft, Did I misread something.

fosko1: Just for fun, time how long it takes to start up your sim, and how long to select an aircraft.Must be some kind of world record...

If you specialize in 'POSKY' paints it could be even more than 78 Gb, as any 'paint' will be HUGE as it's the entire aircraft. I only have 1 or 2 POSKY models. All together I have 21 Gb (Active and BackUp folder combined). The more the merrier I say. But I may be in 4th or 5th place. We need 100 simmer posting their folder size to get (more or less) a true 'average'. Then I'd be lucky to get 40th place.Chuck BNapamule

Just checked, the FS took 04'55 minutes and the aircraft selection tab to come down 0'48 seconds, Christian Llull. Illes Balears

Mine is 15,3 GB, and the majority is AI. I have, exactly because I wanted to avoid overly long load times, kept my installed user-controlled planes to a minimum. I only installed those planes that I truly think are great, or which I enjoy the most. I have also tried to really limit the number of repaints I have to the tiniest possible, because even if I do have agreat selection of paints, I end up only using KLM, El Al, Transavia, Martinair and Arkia, of which KLM and El Al I fly the most (to be honest, it's also a selection criterion of mine when I buy a plane: does it have any of these liveries available?).

This is not a contest! The contest is in the other thread about size! :( I wanted to know how many aircraft would make the sim fall over...seems I have some way to go. Good.

Well as you said, that's probably less than you'd expect...If I were settling in for say, a 6-hour flightsim session I could live with that.
