Which One?

Recommended Posts

If you were going to add just one to your hangar, which would you choose? The Flight 1 Mustang, or the Real Air Duke? I realize it's a little bit like apples to oranges, but all things being equal....

I don't know how one could make a choice-they are both must haves..Don't eat out for a couple weeks...both will last much longer. :(

Yeah you should get both man. They are different, the Mustang is faster (not by a whole lot though unless you're way up high) but the Duke is more friendly on your FPS.They are my two most-widely used on VATSIM

Mustang can fly higher and faster (all in all it's a jet :( ) and has more advanced avionics: SIDs, STARs, WAAS etc. I don't have the Duke, but judging from opinions it's easier on FPS and looks even better than Mustang. You can upgrade the Duke's avionics with RealityXP GPS, but it's quite expensive. You could buy another high quality airplane addon (like DA Cheyenne, or PMDG J4100) for its price. So if you like to fly RNAV routes and have fast computer, then Mustang is better, or at least much cheaper than Duke + RXP combo. If you prefer sightseeing or already have RXP gauges, then get the Duke. If you care about 2D panels (I don't) then Mustang has complete set of them, while Duke doesn't have any, not even popups for radio panel.

I bought the Duke. I'm used to flying the "big boys" so this will take some getting used to. I'm able to get up and running from a cold and dark start, so that's something. I'll take some time pouring over the manuals and try to figure out where I'm going to fly to. I appreciate everyone's input. Once I get the Duke under control, I'll take a look at the Mustang.
