Recommended Posts

Hi.I'm in process of formatting and installing XP64 bit.Now I have dilemma, to do RAID 0 (I have 2 320gb baracudas) or not. What is the better solution. In case normal installation with two identical disks, is it better to install fs9 stuff on that second HD?Thanks in advanceEdin

If you mean you want to install FS and add-ons on a stripe that's ok, but make sure you backup to another drive regularly. If you mean to install your O.S. on this array, don't bother. You'll be reloading again in no time.

there is no benefit to FS in using a software RAID array. If you use a dedicated controller with a 256k stripe you might get some improvement.FS is better on it's own disk.

320GiB is way too much for an OS. You can use it for sceneries like FS Global, Switzerland Pro and so.Mirroring the disk is good only if You perform a frequent backups (if one disk fails, You will loose most if not the all files)
