Considering ASA for FS9

Hi All:Okay, this might be a baited question, but I'll ask anyway. I have AS2004, which I use with FS9. AS2004 works great; I get WX, winds, etc. etc. It does what it's supposed to do. I'm not really interested in the nice GUI; so, strictly regarding the weather (clouds, winds, visibility): should I switch to ASA? Is it really that big of a difference to weather I experience during flight? Or is it a bunch of subtle changes?Also, I use WideFS, with AS2004 on the Client PC. ASA does retain full functionality on a Client PC, right?Thanks gents.James

IMHO, ASA is a bunch of subtle changes which add up to some very big changes and improved visuals and the newer GUI is much more user friendly. I think the wx depiction is better also, but its been so very long since I installed ASA that I really have no clear memory of older versions (this happens when you get old :( )I can't comment as to your other points.

If you're only running FS9, then AS6.5 is the gold standard. Any improvements you might have with ASA are likely to be offset by other problems. Ouch dude, that's a little harsh. Are you using add on graphics like FEX, REX, or Active Sky Graphics to enhance the visuals? AS 6.5 and ASA are top notch wx generation/simulation engines, that's not just my (not so) humble opinion, but the opinions of many, many users. When I fly west out of my home airport KLWB Lewisburg WV and pass over KBKW Beckley WV in the rain (in FSX remember) and twenty minutes later it actually starts raining here at my home (I'm not making this up) that's a wx engine working at its very best.

Jim: thanks very much for this. Before seeing your post, I actually sent a request for refund via the "Contact Us" on your website. I tried to use ASA this morning, and it just brought my old laptop (client PC on WideFS) to it's knees (plus a few other issues).Regardless, the best course of action is for me to go back to my trusted and true AS2004.5, which has been an excellent addon.I don't really want to post my e-mail, so I'm hoping you can locate my message via "Contact Us".Thanks again.James
