Win 7 32-bit Freezes

Hi,I am sure folks have heard this tale before but here is mine. When I play FSX with SP1 or SP2 or FSX SP1 with Accelleration it freezes. I have read lots of the forums and MFC80.DLL was my original problem - I.E. it would even startPutting another version on helped and it started but then failed on I think mission 4I then reinstalled and it went well on .752 (I think) of the DLL but then failed on the Helicopter Take off missionI then install the fix suggested for MFC80.DLL (3079) but no joyI have tried nHancer tooI have Motherboard p5gc-MXMemory 2GigVideo card 6800XTVideo driver 195.81Any help appreciatedIain

--------------------------------------------------------I think that I might have discovered the universal solution: Don't use FSX's internal FPS limit, but keep it to UNLIMITED. Instead, use the FPS Limiter Software V2.0 Set it to 30, if you have changed the 30 default. Fire it up. Then fire up FSX and go and fly. I'll bet you that the FSX screen-freeze will be gone. It might be thread collisions, that this software helps to mollify.....

Well I don't use any type of limiter and whether or not I use with FSX unlimited or a chosen frame rate selection FSX never locks up.

Hi, I solved this after weeks and weeks of issues by Downloading the latest fixes for C++ 2005 Uninstalling FSX Accelleration, FSX (I did not uninstall the service pack 1 must do it its self) Reinstalling I can now land a helicopter and I am very please with myself Not a great solution or scientific but one that worked for me at least. I am now debating on whether to install the service pack + accelleration. I may let you know the outcome. So just for the search engines sake, Window 7 Win7 FSX Flight Simulator Nvidia 6800XT no longer freezes Out of interest is CTD crash to desktop because I am unable to get to my desktop when it crashes.

No. The term "CTD" ("Crash To Desktop") normally refers to the really mystifying total disappearance of FS with no errors, no freezes, no stuffers. Just, all of a sudden, it isn't running and you are simply left on the desktop. It was a frequent and infamous occurrence during FSX Beta testing and persisted to a not-much-lesser extent in the main release. I think it was supposed to be eradicated in the SP1 update, although I might be mistaken and it wasn't till the SP2/Acceleration update.The big problem with the CTD type crash is that there is never any information recorded about why it disappeared. Nothing on screen, nothing in the system logging.RegardsPete

we've already established that the occasional, recoverable freezes also occur with frames unlocked.

Well I thought I had solved it because the Misson to land a helicopter worked for more than 2 mins however I hadn't. When I got to the last hoop it froze again.However my son pointed out that CFS3 also no longer starts on the new Windows 7 so further investigation led me to fixing my problem.- I have an onboard graphics card, I switched to this and installed the drivers, then switched back- I changed the frequency from auto to manual in the biosI have no idea which fixed the issue but it has not crashed with over 2 hours of playIain

I have this problem too. It's not a CDT but is the whole system who freeze randomly, I can just reboot my pc.I am on Win 7 64-bit, FSX sp1+Accelleration. Tryed all fix suggested in the forum (UIAutamation.dll, VS 2005 updates, FSP-Limeter etc.) but not success.No problem with other games or apps, it's just FSX. I really don't know what to do. Next option would be back to XP

I have had the same problem with FS9 and Win 7 64. In fact I've suffered through three types of lockups, and have managed to trouble-shoot just about all of them. Type 1 - Ground Lockup - Turning onto runway caused a freeze, to fs9 where it has to be restarted. This is the one I'm still battling, but I noticed it doesn't do it with the sound off so I'm getting close. No entry found in Event Viewer.Type 2 - Air Lockup - After flying for about 45 min, Win 7 would lockup and this required a reboot of the OS. This turned out to be something which has to do with the way Win 7 does power management. One of the fixes in the latest Asus drivers cured that one. No entry found in Event Viewer. Type 3 - Air Black screen - Certain areas of the country the screen would just go black, requiring a restart of fs9. I cured this by going to FSUIPC site, and adding RemoveATC=Yes to FSUIPC.ini file, since I don't use default ATC. Entry in Event Viewer of ATC.dll crash.Maybe this will help someone.KJ
