My ATC Seems Frozen

Recommended Posts

Guest TonyPiech

For whatever reason my ATC seems frozen. I'm attempting to open communication and obtain ATC IFR clearance, I have two options to select Obtain ATC clearance or ATIS, to get weather info. Clicking on any of those two options, gives me nothing; no sound from the ATC, no recording in the window from ATC. I'm getting sound from the engine but no communication from ATC. The ATC window has a past recording of my communication in a saved flight at a completely different location and in a different plane. I saved that flight at the point of descent in a landing approach, to practice my landings. But now I'm at a gate, in a differnt plane, in a different location. What can I do to get my ATC to communicate with me? My radio is set to the appropriate com for the origination of this new flight. Need some guidance. Do I delete this saved fight to clear the ATC window? Or is there another solution.Tony

Problem solved. My saved start-up flight was in a Digital Aviation Piper Cheyenne, apparentely for flying the Piper Cheyenne, you need to start FSX as the Administrator, rather than just clicking-on the desktop FSX icon, you then won't get an FMS error box saying something like "Unable to open userwpt.txt". Making a non-Cheyenne flight as my start-up flight, solved the problem; ATC works. Just need to remember when flying the Cheyenne to run FSX in administrator mode or I'll than darn FMS error.Tony
