FFX DC-10 in FS2004

Recommended Posts

Hi, what are some of the issues that FFX planes have in FS2004? The DC-10s seem not to create contrails about 30,000ft and the beacon lights do not turn on. Do these things work in FS2004 or is it my computer? Thanks,Bill

Hi Bill, dont know much about your beacon light problem as I dont have FS2004 but from what I read about contrails is that in FS2004 they dont always appear now at 30 000 feet, they can appear at different altitude now due to the way that FS2004 looks at the weather. Ive seen screenshots where the contrail appears at 24000 feet or 33000 feet for example. Regarind your beacon lights it might be a panel issue of course as the DC10 is probably using the default 737 cockpit and maybe its not showing right because of this. It might work fine in Fs2002 though but maybe theres an issue with it in FS2004.Anyway take care and hope you are enjoying FS2004. I cant wait to get my copy of it when it comes out here in the UK.Craig Kiltie

Thanks, I forgot to copy my effects files into fs2004. I did not know about the contrails being at different alt. Can anyone else verify this too? Thanks,Bill

Guest flightjunkie

I just installed the Northwest DC-10-40 into FS2004 and did one flight in mild summer weather and one in cold winter weather. In summer, I saw the contrails appear at around FL280. In the winter weather scenario, they appeared at FL190.So it's true!

The contrails fx are controlled by temperature by design. So now that FS2k4 has made the weather more realistic, the contrails will appear as they should at varying altitudes. It's all dependent on air temperature.Mikehttp://sgair.net/mike/mike/mike_small.jpg

I haven't got a DC-10 loaded, but as for the 727s and 737s...The 737-300, all I've found is that I can't activate the yaw damper. 727-200...really struggled to maint a/s and any climb above 1000fpm up to 330. Once I got there, a lot of power to hold .80 (90%+ N1), and I was at about 5 degrees aoa up there. went to 350 then back to 330, trying to get "on the step", no change...Also no yaw damper, but all else seems ok
