The Rebs would have gotten to Canada easily. Great Britain was very friendly to the South. In fact, they were quietly providing extensive help in hopes that the Southern Rebellion would succeed and then England would have been assured of the cotton exports from the south.At least one Confederate raid into the northern U.S. was staged from Canada. Canadian entry by Southern combatants and sympathizers was not a problem. A wink, a nod, and the secret handshake were all that was necessary for free admission.

At this time the Bar Harbo(u)r to Yarmouth ferry has been cancelled but that may change. Also note there is a ferry between St. John NB to Digby NS then up the Annapolis Valley. Makes a great FS flight as well.Gary

Gents -Thanks for all the additional info. Mitch may want to take note of the Ferry as he is biking it. I'll be confined to whatever shore excursions are available at the ports of call that the ship makes.Bruce
