Overkill haze in the horizon in FS2k4...

Recommended Posts

I don't know if others have noticed this but there seems to be an overkill with haze at higher altitudes (kind of looks like MS chose to cap the viewable distance in order to improve framerates). My sliders are maxed out but it seems my viewable terrain doesn't extend out as far as it did in FS2002. Kind of kills it for me as far as high altitude flight goes. Maybe it's my video card (ATI 9700pro).

Just change the date...There's quite a few sky "themes" in FS2004, which are picked according to the date. Some are markedly hazier than others, although the vis is the same. It can have the effect that you describe.... I had the opposite problem--things seemed too sharp and crisp--until I was set "straight".... Now my default flight starts on a day where the level of haze matches my taste.....-John

O.K. John thanks for the tip, it seems July is the only month that haze is an issue. Now if I could only stop those mountains from dancing around in the distance....
