Strange how hardware can be where my little old 7600GS 512Mb card never really uses more then 140Mb's at its peak with FSX.

I have a GTX285 1 Gb and I have bufferpools at 500000 (500.000), which is 0.5 Mb. It's the sweet spot for me. Anything higher and FSX starts to stutter, anything lower (including 0) and I get stutters again. When it comes to FSX there is NOT one holy grail for the masses: everyone has its own holy grail because every computer is different... So the topic tile should have been '[bufferPools] PoolSize=0 my personal holy grail of FSX performance...' :( BTW With your settings, specs and low resolution, I am surprised you get stutters at all... Seems to me something is not entirely right with your setup. Don't forget that a lot of tweaks simply make up for errors in s system: that's another reason why there is not ONE holy grail for everyone. People who have a well tuned and optimal working system, don't need a holy grail at all.

Deleteing it does not mean 0.. it means the SP2 (or SP1) default 1 or 3 MillionHowever, justin seems to have confirmed what I tought. FSX does offer a huge improvement when using 2GB Video cards and PoolSize=0... Justin, have you ever experienced black screens or texture corruption in FSX?
The default poolsize was raised from 1,000,000 (1mb) to 4,000,000 (4mb)

I have a 2Gb 285, I always thought FSX needed lots of vram but was just a hunch. I have applied this tweak and I must say it has removed the wild fluctuations and the micr stutters. I run a 3head2go so my screen res is 3840x1024, I still get the redrawing of textures when i switch views as fsx is moving along but they seem faster. Thanks for the info, i think this works for me and will be a keeper. q9550 @ 3750mhz, 8gb DDR 1066, GTX285 2gb, asus x48 rampage mobo

You see now why I will not post tweaks that have no basis in fact or have any real technical reasoning behind them based on how the application worksThe bottom line is that when things like this are posted more than likely something is influencing the result which is specific to the system, therefore it means nothing to the masses as a whole and the associated theory behind it pretty much assumed bunkmany times these same 'discoveries' end up being changed by the user who posts them after installing another addon, change drivers, or, doing a complete reinstall

yeah I just did a proper test... 1+ hr flight and my gpu went to 100% load (gpu mem was only 330mb).It was like I was in a blizzard. Thought it might be a once off so did another long flight and didnt have any visual stuff ups about after 45 mins or so i noticed my gpu went to 100% load again. FPS was still perfect though. I wasnt happy when the blizzard thing happened, thought my vid card had died :( Think I might remove the poolsize=0 and go back to dx10 anyways. Not sure why people dont like it :( It seems more stable.I just wish the addons worked :( oh and the damn shimmering tree's.

hmmm i suppose if i didnt have my FPS locked at like 60 (was running fine though) it might have helped.I think MS should release FSX SP3... Were the only change is fsx.cfg is read only :(Im gonna stop changing crap and just play.

Did anyone notice this:FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.25What is that all about? Thought that was pre-SP1?Uhuuu... The "FSX Blacks Arts and Woodo"... :(

Hi,I also asumed that this setting had no effect in FSX, but I was wrong. Here is a thread OT: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=263132&hl=

Interesting read thanks!OK, let's dig all the old stuff out, and call it: "Free Style Tweak" for everybody!Maybe it works, or maybe not, but we can always give it a try.I use this tweak and several others on my old machine:http://www.highflightsimulations.com/site/...oc&docId=32

FSX seems to be one of the few apps that makes use of such huge ammounts of VRAM, confirming what we all know! in YOUR case, it makes perfect sense you are using 1GB memory, you are pushing your card to its limits with your nHancer settings and screen resolution... thats why PoolSize=0 won't work for you! if you had a 2GB memory card, you'll be able to, no problems.Texture_Multi you mean TBM correct? I use 75 how I came with that number? I just wanted to use a multiple of my locked FPS (25)
Fair enough. I have a EVGA GTX275 with 1792MB clocked at 721, shader clock 1600 and memory clock at 1175. Is there enough there to benefit from this in your opinion?Stephen

You should able to get rid of the shimmering trees by applying "tansparency=Multi or SuperSampling" in the driver menu or the same if you use enhancer/rivatuner etc
