Converting textures to DXT3 I think

I saw a post here about convering textures to DXt3,but now can't find it.It gave instructions on how to do it.Since I have a modest rig,this would help my frame rates.Any help appreciated.Ron

Personally, I wouldn't bother transforming DXT5 to DXT3. There are a few differences but the main one is file size and Alpha transition. DXT5 I believe is more uncompressed than DXT3 so a slightly larger file size but better performance since it is less compressed. I have actually done the oposited in the past where I converted all of my textures to DXT5.DXT5 also has better Alpha transition since in DXT3 alpha information is stored in 4 bit, and the way it stores it's alpha data. So in short, I wouldn't bother converting.
