What is the visual diff between anaglyph versus shutter glasses?

Recommended Posts

I have the anaglyph glasses to try the stereo effect and while it's pretty cool in FSX, there is a signficant loss of color, and no wonder considering how it is accomplished. To me the image is somewhere between black and white, versus color. Can you tell me if perhaps color depth, contrast, etc are signficantly better with shutter versus anaglyph approach to stereo 3D? I have an old pair of e-dimentional shutter glasses, but my LCD does not do over about 60 or 70 refresh rate, so haven't tried them. I can't recall how the e-d glasses worked way back when, other than I remember I didn't think the stereo offset other issues with image quality, and so they have not been used for many years. Any insignt is appreciated if you have tried both of these options so can make a fair comparison,Noel
