SID's & STAR's in FS2004? :(

Umm, what ever happened to the SID's and STAR's that were supposed to be in FS2004? FS2k4 is still using the same depart direct to VOR~as in 2k2...I'm dissapointedNick

SIDs and STARS were never implemented. You do have a choice to change runways and ask for another approach.

I don't recall anyone at MS ever saying DPs/STARs were going to be in FS2004 - I know it was a requested by users, but I think that's about it... hopefullly it'll make it into to 2006 along with more ATC stuff like speed restrictions, descend pilot's descretion etc...Ryan

Just so you know you're not losing your mind, Nick, I remember reading somewhere that SIDS/STARS would be supported...like in a preview article or thread somewhere. Oh well.

If you are flying IFR, when ATC starts vectoring you for the approach you can ask for any standard published instrument approach. You can then pull up the respective IAP on the GPS 500. I believe you can also pull up STARS and SIDS on the GPS, but you would have to manually enter the waypoints into your flight plan if you wanted ATC to be aware of them; the same applies if you want the autopilot to fly them for you.So in summary, the GPS can display the IAPs, STARs and SIDs. ATC can vector you to the proper transition points to begin the instrument approaches. To include them in your flight plans, you will have to enter the waypoints yourself. To have the autopilot fly them, you will have to enter the waypoints into the flight plan yourself.I hope I haven't confused you all the more :-roll
