Livery Installation Problems

Recommended Posts

Guest godfather103

The liveries for the MD-11 for FS9 that I download from the PMDG Site do not work. I run the exe file, and the Install Shield Wizard proceeds, but it never finishes and says "Installation Complete" or anything like that. I love the MD-11 but having no working liveries is a real bummer. Can anyone help?Been having the same problem with some of the 737's as well. Only Southwest Airlines liveries seem to work.Any help GREATLY appreciated. I am running FS9 on Windows Vista. Thanks!Omar Izquierdo

Hi Omar,Two things come to mind.
  1. Run the installers as admin if your files are in their default locations (ie. C:\Program Files (86), etc...)
  2. If that doesn't work, check your Aircraft.cfg and see if there is any modifictaions being done, even though you don't see it finish.

Hope this helps,

I always am the only user on this PC and therefore the admin. And I did check the aircraft.cfg and yes, the new livery entries are present. Which makes it even more bizarre that they are not showing up in the actual flightsim menu.

Vista is quirky with admin rights. I dont have FS on a Vista system anymore at the moment, but I think when I did I still had to "run as administrator" even though I WAS the administrator in order to run the installation correctly. Do you have UAC turned off? If not, turn it off. You said the CFG entries are present, but are the actual corresponding folders with the bmp files also present? And as far as installing PMDG supplied liveries there is no "installation complete" message after the installation.

Ok. So I turned off UAC as you said to, and now all the liveries (MD-11 and 737) seem to be working.But. For some reason, it has also deleted my last 15 add-on sceneries from my Scenery Library. What the heck???? I think I can get those all back, but still!!!
