Hi Everyone! :( this is my first post on the Avsim forum, and im looking for anybody who might be able to help me?I have recently upgraded my computer from XP 32bit to Vista 64bit, and am reinstalling my addons and FS9 etc.The problem im having is with the PMDG 747-400. Iv installed it properly, and when i go to slect the aircraft in the main FS9 Menu, it loads the Airac, but does'nt make the usual "Ding" sound, and then it wont actually let me select the aircraft ever time i click ok it just lopps me around the FS9 select an aircraft menu? Then if i hit cancel and return to the main screen, the aircraft shown as selected is the PMDG 747 but the circulating picture is still of the default Cessna? The if i hit ok to load the flight up, it loads the 2D PMDG panel for one second, and then FS9 crashes to Desktop automatically? saying FS9 has stopped responding? I have been on to PMDG's support team, and have tried running FS9 as an adminstrator, iv installed all of the microsoft Visual redistributable C++ 2005/2008 files, and have even uninstalled, reinstalled, re installed vista and tried again, reformatted my hardrive, something is just not right? and iv tried my technical hand at it and its still no good. Even the support teams last resort was for me to install the FS9.1 upgrade, which i did, and reinstalled the PMDG and still the saaammmmeeee thinggggggg! :( so im about ready to burst.Paul Gollnick at PMDG seems to think there is something wrong in the core files of FS9? and i cant see what the issue could be? maybe in the .cfg file? First, it is the shortcut that starts FS9 that you've set the property on to run as admin, right?Second, you were an admin when you installed the 744, right?Third, make sure you have the latest version of FSUIPC available from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html and let it overwrite the one in your modules folder that came with the 744 installer.installing that with you as an admin but first make sure your FS9 path registry entry is correct using this free registry check repair tool available at:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryand be sure you and that is set to run as an admin.

Hi! Thank you so much for helping out here, dont know whatvelse to do! Lolright so iv installed the PMDG 747 again as an admin, iv then run the path repair applet as an admin, then iv run fs9 as an admin, and still the same problem :(im currently running on FSUIPC 3.7 I believe, and there is still this issue, i understand the newest version for fs2004 is version 3.9? I just dont want to spend the 25 euro if it doesnt solve the issue! Iv already wasted $5 on a new installation link with PMDG thinking my installation may have gotten corrupted during a transfer from my external HD, but that wasnt the case either! So i just want to ask, could it be anything else? Is there anything else it could be? Before i pay for the new FSUIPC? Im just so lost lol :( Thanks for your help!

If you've already paid for the registered version of FSUIPC, I don't believe you have to pay again for an update.

If you are using the application registered version or the user purchased registered version FSUIPC will upgrade within the version 3.xx series without further payment. (Same case for version4.xx for FSX users.)For safety just make a copy in a folder outside of FS of your current FSUIPC.ini and FSUIPC.key. Then install the downloaded FSUIPC exe installer and let it overwrite FSUIPC.dll.

Hi Guys, Sorry for getting back to you so late on from our last messages!Right so to update you all, I have to date, did everything we spoke about in the last messages, and tonight I managed to find my FSUIPC registration details.I installed the PMDG 747, then i overwrote the FSUIPC that was 3.7.5.0 (provided by PMDG) with the new FSUIPC 3.9.8.0 fresh of Peter Dowsons site. Then i registerd it to my old details and it all went perfectly.As for the PMDG no difference at all :( .....It still sends me looping round the select an aircraft menu, and it still wont let me click ok, it still wont play that gong sound after loading the Airac and fixes, and unless i click cancel or select another aircraft, it wont let me out of the select an aicraft menu. If i do select another aircraft or hit cancel, it then gets really interesting......The loading sign on my cursor stays on constantly as if its been trying to load the PMDG but cant? then if i cancel the PMDG selction and hit cancel, then hit fly now, it takes me into the PMDG 2D panel, virtual cockpit and outside frame, it is all there, except all the instruments are black and off??? Plus the external view is again too close as if the game thinks im flying a cessna except its actually the 747?! and i can here the button clicks when i click on them, plus i can do window animations like move the sun visor in the virtual cockpit, but i cant get the cursor to stop showing that loading circle? and i can get it to work properly?you'll excuse me when i say "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!" :( So i appreciate your work on this so far guys, but it getting ever more perplexing, i emplaw anyone in the world, to please help ???!Thanks for your help guys, what else do you think it could be now? Its really getting me down .... lol

Are you using a Triple Head 2 Go?I had a similar problem where I could not select the aircraft was just stuck in the main aircraft page.....Have a look at this threadhttp://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...&hl=loadingI sorted my problem by installing Windows XP 64 bit.....I personally believe Vista/Win 7 is not good for FS9/FSX....Hope this helpsHamish

Hi Hamish,MY SAVIOUR!!!Ha! that was it, triplehead2go, you hit the nail on the head there i think lol! I am using it and im guessing thats whats causing this issue.I did the work around mentioned in the thread by loading up the UI Generated flight, and it worked!The only problem i have is, this is loading the aircraft up in the GE engines version, traditionally i want to be able to fly the RR version of the 747-400 because its the only model sporting BA colours, as i fly online for with BAV a lot.But as the UI Generated flight is the only way to get in, it would seem that this is the one and only way this will work. Once i load up that flight, if i try to change the aircraft to RR or P&W engines, i cant im going round the loop again, and all i can fly in this case is the Deafult PMDG livery GE aircraft - lovely as the PMDG livery is lol, its not really my bag.... any ideas on how i can change that at least?Im guessing its not a very common problem through simmers of today? is there no cast iron fix for it? PMDG seem to have rinsed there hands of it when i asked them for help, and Matrox - HA! more chance of god coming down and having a cup of tea in the fight deck!Thanks for you help, all great so far, were almost there guys!!! :( :( :( B)

I think there is a way round it.....Go to your desktop change your resolution to your default single screen size, mine was 1280 x 1084. Load up FS9 select pmdg 747 the aircraft you want RR etc then get back to the main page where you have selected the aircraft then change back to 3840 x 1024 or whatever your triple head 2 go is set for and you should be fine. Its a pain workaround but as I said Vista/Win 7 does not play ball with FS9/FSX on a few issues... Let me know if you have any luck!!H.

Hey!I Did the work around to get the RR version up and running and it was all seeming to be working finew, until I got intot he virtual cockpit, and now all the gauges are black. Thats now the only problem. If i can just get the gauges to work, then the work around isnt so bad!Thanks for all of your help so far, sorry to write back so late about this! Been a busy few months, iv moved country and everything!Have you go any ideas on this one?Thanks!

Hi I had the same problem. But when i started on one screen and drag the lines out on three screens it works. Im using 5040+1050. The problem is if you use the S letter to change wiev it stucked in "cockpit wiev". If using the cursor on the screen and right klick and change wiev there everything works ok. Avoid cockpit wiev because theres the problem is. It finally works for me. Hope it works for you.Best Joe Gustavsson
