March 9, 201016 yr Really nice pictures Jigsaw. That Caranado is really photogenic set in the PNW hills and dales.! :(
March 10, 201016 yr Now that is a brilliant idea! :(I have been wanting a keystroke control for turning bloom on and off for a long time. I love the default FSX bloom effects, and fly with them on except in dense terminals and what not.I think what is really called for, if you have the programming prowess, is a utility you can set HOW the system prioritizes between certain, user-configurable settings, and maintains a pre-set frame limit. For example, if you are inclined to want to use BLOOM in low-demand situations, you could set frames to 30 or 25, and the sim would turn bloom on or off to maintain that setting. Same same for auto-gen. In actuality, I think this is what FSX was programmed to do already--to prioritize what happens according to processing demand. Where this idea differs is the the user could decide what the cut points are.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. March 10, 201016 yr A few panorama shots:[Jigsaw, please stop posting these types of shots!Mods please remove these pix and bann this guy!I wont be able purchase this and install for at least another two weeks or so, or when ever it is I return home and it is torture to see it!Really, all we need now is the "God rays"!Oh, and if you want closer to FSX-DX10 FPS performance without the solid unbroken imagery performance of DX9, just limit antialising to 2xAA like it is in DX10 preview (well to be fair...Apples to Apples).Paul
March 10, 201016 yr Hehe, sorry about that. ;) Really, all we need now is the "God rays"!And cloud shadows!
March 10, 201016 yr You mean the things that Aces promised us with the super duper state of the art, world changing dx10 patch? *tongue in cheek*
March 10, 201016 yr You mean the things that Aces promised us with the super duper state of the art, world changing dx10 patch? *tongue in cheek*Yeah! Let's hope that the REX attempt at cloud shadows will be successful and not kill the framerates too much:http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/forum/ind...hp?topic=4769.0
March 10, 201016 yr Holger,Thanks for all the info. Could you do me a favor though? I also have an older Q6600 system and tried limiting the buildings as you suggested. Could you please post a pic over Seattle using your "tweak" with fps listed? For some reason, it doesn't look right and I just wanted to see if it is my perception or whether I messed something up.Thanks,Joshua
March 11, 201016 yr Commercial Member Holger,Thanks for all the info. Could you do me a favor though? I also have an older Q6600 system and tried limiting the buildings as you suggested. Could you please post a pic over Seattle using your "tweak" with fps listed? For some reason, it doesn't look right and I just wanted to see if it is my perception or whether I messed something up.Thanks,JoshuaHi Joshua,Holger's just putting the finishing touches on the PNW Demo, but I jumped into the Carenado C185F over downtown Seattle using Holger's tweaks and get a steady 30+ FPS there. OK, so I have a faster PC than a Q6600 but it's quite possible to get very good performance over the city. I am running with Extremely Dense Scenery and Very Dense Autogen. If I pulled those sliders back a bunch I would be in the 45's. So I reckon there's no reason you could not get high teens or low 20's. Cheers, John Venema
March 11, 201016 yr John, great shot - can you post your rig specs please? CPU + GPU anyway, would give us a basis for comparison.Lovely shot, btw. ENB bloom, or DX10, or am I imagining? Paul Skol

ENB bloom, or DX10, or am I imagining?ENB Bloom. Don't fly without it! :( Never use DX10, it's too flakey and forces 2xAA anyway.Specs: Intel i7 920 @4.2Ghz, 285GTX 1GB, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 2x VeloRaptors 150GB each, Windows 7 64-bit, no fsx.cfg tweaks except Holger's as discussed above. My 12GB RAM is mainly for large-file photoshop work, 6GB is more than enough. As I said I can easily get insane FPS over Seattle with sliders pulled back, but I love my eye candy! :(:( Cheers, John Venema
March 11, 201016 yr This product looks very interesting. I've been purchasing much of the Megascenery X photo-real scenery which is terrific. But one disadvantage is that it only has one season (since all 4 seasons would take up a humongous amount of disk space). Of course, in places like SOCAL it doesn't matter that much. Does this scenery have all 4 seasons? Thanks for info.
March 11, 201016 yr Does this scenery have all 4 seasons? It has 5, actually, because the winter months are split into light and hard winter.
March 11, 201016 yr It has 5, actually, because the winter seasons are split into light and hard winter.Excellent! I'll definitely be purchasing it.
March 11, 201016 yr John,Thank you for taking the time to post the pic over Seattle. It was exactly what I was looking for. I seem to be getting much less autogen than in your shot when using Holger's tweak; so, I'll go double check that I have things set properly. Also, thank you for the great customer service and wonderful products. After I asked the question of Holger, I felt bad that it really should have been over in the ORBX forums. If I need more help, I'll post over there from now on to get proper official service, but wanted to say thanks for taking care of me here. Thanks again,Joshua
March 11, 201016 yr EDITED BY ADMIN: Please Jeroen, avoid quotting screenies in your replies.Thxs :--)DavidI see you haven't updated the C185F yet: I'd do that if I were you! :( And don't forget to also download the optional patch that gives better flight dynamics! And btw without any autogen tweaks and autogen at Extremely dense I get an fps around 18-20 above Seattle with an i7 920 @ 3.3. Not super smooth, I have to add, but very flyable nonetheless (with my C182RG). I like my autogen extremely dense... :( With Holger's autogen tweaks performance would be doubled, I guess, but I like it as it is now! :( I usually fly above rural area's and the bush and there fps won't drop below my maximum of 25 (with the limiter). Anyway, with a little effort there is more to be had out of FSX/PNW than many might think possible!
