July 30, 200322 yr The big hole I flew by last night enroute DFW-CVG does have a bottom. I took a C-172 out of 2AR6, a little grass strip just west of Hope, AR. Flew toward the big hills to the west, and started circling into the canyon. There is a nice spit of land down there near the "waterfall", and after many circles inside the canyon, made a nice rough field landing on the beach. Someone needs to cut down a few trees and stick an airstrip down there. Field elevation...minus 15193 MSL!! Now THATS a deep canyon!!!Base jumpers paradise too!!! (It's actually a resevoir that MS kinda missed the mesh elevation on...could be a huge tourist attraction though!! World's biggest waterfall, neat lake, nice campsites down there too. Building a trail to the bottom would be a challenge, only way down there is by air right now...) The round trip to the bottom took about an hour from 2AR6. Just watch out for trees on landing down there. You'll enjoy this one...Dave
July 30, 200322 yr Since PEI is back in FS2004, one can assume the canyon was dug in order to provide the land for PEI :)Also, on the eastern tip of Long Island, the coastline is missing--it looks like the beaches surrounding PEI were taken from that stretch of Long Island... Can't help but have fun with these issues... I bet a "flatten" in the scenery.cfg would eliminate the canyon, but it sounds like a fun place to explore. How do the a/c dynamics feel at -15,000 MSL?-John
July 30, 200322 yr In FS2004 the exact coordinates are:N33* 50.26' W94* 0.43'Altitude -15,193 ft (yes, MINUS).I did not check if it is also in FS2002.Jozef http://www.dse.nl/~joker32/pictures/signature.jpg
