FS2004 questions and a little help

Recommended Posts

First lemme just start off by saying that I love FS 2004 and this post shouldnt discourage anyone from gettin it.With that said, i have a little dilema,First my system specs:Compaz Evo N1000v laptop P4 2.0 ghz512 MB DDR RAMATI Mobility 7500 with 32MB @ 1024x760x32Ok so i started up FS2004 and flew around with it for a while really liking what I saw. I didnt change any default settings at first but noticed it was running a little slow . . . So i began tweeking. I messed with the video card settings and sim settings but things are still kinda slow and I heard a lot of people talking about similar performance from 2k4 that they had with 2k2. So after all my fidgeting, it was to a point where I could fly but just barely so I set up a comparison situation with the two sims(see screenies). Basically im gettin half the perfomance in FS2004 that I was getting in FS2002. The settings have been adjusted in 2k4 to match 2k2 autogen etc and no weather:http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26790.jpg30 may seem high but its only there til I start flying and look what I was getting in 2k2http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26791.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26792.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26793.jpgBoth Aircraft sections are maxed out and in the hardware section I have T&L and render to texture checked on both.MIP mapping at 4 and lights at 8. NO AA of FsAA in FS or in video card settings.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26794.jpgI just landed at KMGE in FS2004 and notice how the frames dropped. I know frames arent that important but take that same situation and add the 737 with a little weather and a little traffic and problems begin. These were with no traffic from KRYY-KMGE outside atlanta (a 5 minute flight) and when I landed in 2k2 i still had frames in the 30s. So I cant really upgrade cuz Im on a laptop except maybe more ram but I have a feeling it has something to do the those ATI drivers on the Mobility Radeon 7500. Is it at all possible to use the catalyst drivers for regular Radeon cards with the Mobility card or am I just stuck like CHUCK. Even if I cant fix it Im still probably sticking with 2k4 and as a matter of fact im gonna go play now!Any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanx in advance--- Geoff WilsonP.S. (this post took a while to make so please respond :)

Hey Geoff, don't know what to say, all machines act differently. I am getting better performance on my internet PC than I got in FS2002, will probably get burned when I install it on my new gaming rig! LOLOnly thing I can think of since you seem to have all the bases covered is to try the DX9B install, seems to have helped some. I had d/l it before install, but have no reason to install now.Don't know much about laptops, so can help with the driver info, sorry.Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com
