trying to learn the stock Learjet 45

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to flight simulation, but have put in a lot of hours over the past few weeks. I have FSX with REX, GEX, UTX and FTX-PNW, and am very much enjoying it all. I've gotten pretty decent with all the small planes like the Cessna 172 and the Cub, and so forth. I sim on medium difficulty. Upon going through the various lessons and missions, I came upon the 'Telluride Landing' mission, which says it's 'Beginner' class, but I was lost. I found the How to fly the Lear45 in the learning center area, but it no way explains the 45's instrument panel. I've searched google high & low using various search terms, but so far haven't found anything that simply goes over this panel. Getting a taste of the 45's power was quite a rush after all those small birds, and now I want more. Can anyone recommend something that could help me learn the controls? thanks.

ZiffelFriendly panels have developed an addon panel for the LJ45 and they post the manual here which describes the instrument panel: friendlypanels.com/manuales/L45FP.pdf This might help you grasp what an electronic EFIS panel does in a plane like the LJ45. :( RegardsPeterH

Thanks Peter, got the pdf, and that's just what the doctor ordered. Much appreciated.

Search for this:"Bombardier Learjet 45 Gauge Enhancements" (I think the link is: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=102349)in the Avsim file library, for some very nice, freeware enhancements to the default 45. Nice additions.Delightful way to move up to the jets - but you might want to try the CRJ700 too - I found that it's altogether more forgiving/stable than the Lear, you can learn the AP commands etc without the (comparative) twitchiness of the Lear. They're not identical, plainly since the CRJ is bigger, but it's a good start. Then when you swap to the Lear, the challenge ups a little, but you know the process - without jumping straight into a 737.

Copilot: Captain have you ever flown a 777 before?

Captain:Nope, but we got a strong tail wind and the bar in Hong Kong stays open till 5am, so lets kick the tires, light the fires and, get the hell outta here.
