March 13, 201016 yr doesnt say what airport to start at. i started at seatac but it was default scenery. instructions are lacking or i am missing where it says?Hi Just got it myself - having a ball - really good. I already pre ordered the DVD and have used their fantastic Australia scenery for a while now. Did you read the manual? Info is located on the map in the manual with demo area circled in red. Suggest you start at KUIL (I think thats it?). ALso there should be two other fileds nearby. HAve fun. FYI for my machine I only use the buildings tweak set at 500 and don't use the tree tweak. Orbx makes great stuff and you may have to play with it for a while to find the best settings for you. My machine is about 4 years old but runs it well once I find the settings best for me.Another suggestion: Once you get an idea of the area covered by the demo, start at one of the demo airports near the sea, and then display the FSX map. Now check out the topography and move your aircraft (drag it with left mouse click) on the map to the beginning of the mountain area. Now you'll see some of the truly real like mountain textures with snow etc. Just make sure you haven't gone out of the demo area - the map in the manual will help there.Enjoy - Howard
March 13, 201016 yr I thought I would try the demo, but I am seeing an exception as soon as I try to launch it (Edit, I should add there is no way to uninstall): Suggest you post a message at their site - fullterrain.com. They are very helpful! howardyeah i did that. i found some airport in there and flew around and it looks nice from what i briefly saw. according to the demo map seattle should be in there but its just default scenery for me. nasty. would love to see seattle in this demo.Hi Seattle is in the full version, not the demo. Suggest you read the manual and check out the map - demo area circled in red have fun howard
March 13, 201016 yr haha the 9th post down. and i am the one who needs rest?? look, i am just here for help. the map they give clearly shows Seattle in the demo which it is not. there is no list of starting airports so you have to zoom the pdf to 500% to read any of the airports in there, google them to see what city they are in to input them into fsx. all i am saying is that it would be easier for the potential customer to be given a list of where to start and to make the map more accurate as to what's included. i swear this forum goes BERSERK when ANYONE says a semi crass word to orbx. now i know why i give avsim a wide berth. you all can carry on without me.oh i should also add to ziffel, thanks mate for actually offering to help me. id love to see the pics of seattle. Avsim goes BERZERK when posters are rude and cop an attitude-to developers or other simmers. Suggest a different tact.. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
March 13, 201016 yr Having taken a brief flight over the area, I'd say this demo is better than many payware scenery add-ons. -JohnHi John, if you like this one, then try their demo of Tasmania in their Australia package. I have the Australia package (all 4 areas) and love it. Orbx has made FSX into FS11 as far as I'm concerned. Oh, you may want to be be careful with the Tasmania demo - once you try it you'll really want to buy it also. have a good one Howard
March 13, 201016 yr Commercial Member Two important things we missed covering in the user guide:- You require .Net 3.5 installed for Vista and XP users- We don't explain how to un-install ithe demo (See Holgers's post above)Our apologies for these ommissions. We'll update the demo asap with the corrected documentation. We will also make it abundantly clear that Seattle is not included in the demo, although after reviewing the map and the KMZ file it seemed pretty obvious to me.There will be freeware airports coming for the demo area, but these take time to produce. Cheers, John Venema
March 14, 201016 yr for you non believers this attached image from my manual clearly shows seattle in the red zone. i dont know what more to say? am i reading the map wrong and seeing things when i see seattle in the red? maybe it IS me? either way i dont need the rude and snide comments from all of you when i point it out, especially from the mods geofa. from the rest of these rude people that took time out of their day to tell me how ungrateful i am for suggesting ways to help potential orbx customers maybe but certainly not from you. you should know better. now i have a bad taste in my mouth from this entire episode thanks to you people.
March 14, 201016 yr for you non believers this attached image from my manual clearly shows seattle in the red zone.Sorry, but you are misreading the chart... The word Seattle is in the red zone - The city and SeaTac Airport KSEA is outside.. Bert
March 14, 201016 yr Commercial Member Actually I see the words "Seattle CBD" (Central Business District) which relate to a POI circle to the right of the text - which is clearly outside of the red boundary line.I'm a Australian, but I know enough about US geography to understand that Seattle is not in the Olympic Peninsula. As I've mentioned in a post previously (and is discussed in the user guide at length), a higher definition version of the map is provided for you by way of a KMZ file which you simply drag into Google Earth. This map provides all the airport locations in the Olympic Peninsula as well as other key POIs. That map also clearly shows that Seattle is not in the demo coverage area. I'm sorry, but I am not sure if we can make it clearer for you. Did you at least open the KMZ in GE, or are you generating all this angst over the smaller reference map in the manual? Maybe it's just me, but you seem just a little uptight about what is a non-issue.I apologise personally if the user guide illustration may have been misleading to you sir, certainly that was not our intention. Cheers, John Venema

However I can't see "SEA" mentioned inside the map border. But you are way too sensitive, there are a lot of good people here who are only too pleased to help, but don't take being called "trolls" lightly. Bruce. On my computer I can double click on the KMZ file and it automatically puts me into Google Earth with the PNW demo area outlined in red. Then I can zoom in as much as I want to see what is in the demo area. By zooming in sufficiently, I can clearly see Seattle is just outside the demo area.
March 14, 201016 yr Thank y'all for the clarification of the uninstall procedure. I intend to try this hummer out tonight or tomorrow. ziffel - do you mean you have a complete copy of FSX on another drive? I don't have the space for that - mine is 31 GB presently, before the PNW demo install. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I am so sorry you have a bad taste in your mouth. Have you thought about the "alerts" and complaints we got today about you from fellow simmers who have bad tastes in their mouths due to your attitude in this thread? They were numerous, got my/our attention and the complaints were right on.Reading your posts I see that everything is from the position of what you expect and want. Now I am going to tell you what we expect here at avsim..This forum is a place for flight enthusiasts to have fun, help each other, and have interesting discusions. It is not a place for snide remarks to other simmers or developers-especially when your position is just dead wrong. The Seattle situation has been cleared-you are wrong-and you should be embarassed.Instead- you proclaim you have a bad taste in your mouth.Well sir-the taste in mine is twice as bad-and I'll be glad to show you the door.At avsim we refuse to allow .1 % of the population to spoil it for the rest-and by all appearances you fit into that .1%.I'll give you time to reconsider your attitude in this thread but come back with another round of the same and you are history.
