March 24, 201016 yr Hey Mike,Good afternoon from here in AK. From what I understand, the profiles are a planned item that has yet to happen. I know nothing else atm...I have no LDS 767 profile, otherwise I'd share. Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
March 24, 201016 yr Uhm... don't you think it would be more appropriate to judge the bang-for-the-buck factor by the work that was put into the product and, more importantly, how much enjoyment and use you get out of it, rather than gauging it by the size of its files?Fair point. That being said, I believe there is some merit in pointing out that a 5GB add-on is likely to have been more work to build than a 6MB add-on. Bang for the buck? Again, fair point. But I would say again that a camera utility, good as it is, begins to look expensive when it gets into the $30+ range. Obviously the buyer has the choice to purchase it or not, and the customer and potential customer has the right, given that he is polite and reasonable, to discuss that price. And I am perfectly willing to be both polite and reaonable. It's not so much that you criticize the price but rather the criteria you use for doing so. I actually never heard someone judge the price of a software by its filesize. ;)Then allow me to be the first. :( Out of curiosity, if the file size of a similar utility was less than 1MB, and still in the $30+ range, would you not, even for a brief moment, ponder the price vs. the size of the add-on? ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
March 25, 201016 yr Some of the best FS add-ons I have are all less than 20 megs in size, and some are considerably smaller than that...FSUIPC 4 - 4.51MbFollow Me - 1.06MbIntegrated Simavionics - 10.9MbFS Elemental - 14.1MbFS Panel Studio - 4.97MbDbs Profile Radar - 1.75MbCaptain Sim Weather Radar - 2.92MbTSR Autobrake - 7.76MbTrack IR software - 4.41MbScenery files are by definition going to be big, but they might just have been made with a PSD batch process for all I know, so I would never really judge the value of something by its size, nor assume it always represented more work. And some of those products are in the $10 to $15 range.Look, I'm just saying my piece, I'm not handing down holy writ. I think many add-ons are very fairly priced and I think some are, well, a bit on the high side. (And some are just flat out ridiculous.)I've spent well over a grand on add-ons and that entitles me to the same as everyone else - an opinion. I will endeavour to offer it politely and with respect to the opinions of others. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
March 25, 201016 yr Oh absolutely, you are perfectly entitled to express an opinion on the pricing of EZDOK and any other product we care to mention, and your opinion is just as valid as anyone else.To be honest, I was only really interested in the shaking effect and less bothered about the camera position stuff, at least for when I'm using FSX personally, although I will admit that camera positioning malarkey has proved useful for getting screenshots on product reviews. But even so, I'd cheerfully have paid the price simply for the turbulence effect alone, as it genuinely does add a lot even for such a small thing. If it was only ten quid, I won't claim I'd have been unhappy about that, since I don't have money to burn, but I do think it was worth it for the immersive effect it produces.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 25, 201016 yr After watching some videos of EZDok on YouTube I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. Anyone have profiles for the Carenado birds?
March 25, 201016 yr To keep this in perspective, when you purchase an addon airport, you only get your money's worth when you depart or fly there. When you buy an addon plane, you only get your money's worth when you fly in it. With EZdok, you benefit every time you start FSX...every single time! It works with whatever you fly, wherever you fly, day or night, rain or shine, it's there. The only way you don't get great value is if you choose not to use it.Now, anyone who feels a bit overwhelmed with all the features, just try the following: Add a camera to any plane and name it TEST. Now fly a short segment of 45 seconds or so for testing purposes. Get into all the options and just horse around, and just keep replaying those same 45 seconds after each adjustment. If you don't like it, change some more, then replay again, and on and on. Testing is a breeze with this, so don't be shy. If you mess up big time, just delete the test camera and start again. March 25, 201016 yr After watching some videos of EZDok on YouTube I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. Anyone have profiles for the Carenado birds?Which Carenado planes do you need?I have the Mooney M20J cams finished, and will have the Cessna C152 II done by tomorrow morning. Keeping in mind, all I did was import the Mooney Bravo and Cessna 172 into those two planes, and then tweak the cams to better fit the payware planes. I didn't touch any of the bouncy-shaky stuff, as I don't know what I'm doing on that, so they imported the stock plane's effects, which seems fine, since they are both close matches. Obviously these cams are set up for my flight style, but you are welcome to them if you like. Let me know and I can zip them up and send them your way. i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX
March 25, 201016 yr Out of curiosity, if the file size of a similar utility was less than 1MB, and still in the $30+ range, would you not, even for a brief moment, ponder the price vs. the size of the add-on?No, because utilities are a completely different ballgame than graphical scenery, where textures and other data make up for the bulk of the filesize and not the programming. If anything, bigger filesizes in the realm of utilities usually mean bloated and poorly optimized coding. So, less is more in that area. Again: judging the price by the filesize is absolutely pointless for tools/utilities. The thing that matters is how powerful they are.
March 25, 201016 yr It may very well be a nice piece of software, but $35 for a 6MB utility is a bit much IMHO. Hell, PNW was only $15 more than that and it was 5GB of top quality stuff.I know it's taboo to criticize prices, I've nearly been killed for it before, but there you have it.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Canada One...if you bought PNW for what it adds to the stew for suspending disbelief in your flight hobby, and, if you also laid out for the best sky rendering and atmospherics for such as REX2/Active Sky or equivalent...then........EZdock is the 'third musketeer' that is missing to create the magic three. It not only adds the perception of actual MOVEMENT, but the camera (another word for the way you visually interact with not only the aircraft's interior, exterior, and world-surround) function, is totally alone, a unique feature of this packet. I believe that this software has two distinct functions;1...the simulation of movement physics2...to add/enhance total customizable viewpoint mapsFor 35 bucks, I bought it, and after some initial 'learning curve' frustration due to a less-than-stellar (which is being corrected as I understand) User's Manual (for the moment, you just need to plug on and learn as you go...experiment, etc.) I would not be without it. This is one product that unless you have it to use, can only be totally ignorant of its features and 'add-value' perception. I'd suggest buying it...trying it out for three days, and then either ask Flight1 for a refund, or come back with usage advisories of what camera angles and range-of-motion you found to be the 'right ticket' for your sim'ming pleasure. My suggestion.CheersMitch
March 25, 201016 yr After watching some videos of EZDok on YouTube I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one. Anyone have profiles for the Carenado birds?I've done the StaitionAir 6.You know, it took me all of about 1/2 an hour to pump out all the views. The problem I have...is that I now want/need a number-keypad to hold all the viewpoints (cameras) I want to make, LOL. It is only limited by your needs/imagination. This product isn't canned, and forcing you to only see things the way the developer wished. That would have been a bummer, but not happening here. Mitch

Try it and return it to Flight1 if not satisfied.EZDOk is a "must have". Make sure (if you try it) to set turbulence to at least moderate along with moderate winds. Also, you may want to bring a barf bag if the reality gets too much.I also have Orbx's PNW which is also excellent - EZDOK is the perfect companion to ORBX"S PNW and their Austraila addon (free demos for both, BTW). Hope this helps. HOward
March 25, 201016 yr Just had a great flight, using some of the features...Took a flight in the Cessna StationAir 6 from Olympia, to Portland. Coming into the Portland airspace, and using My Traffic X...needless to say it was rather busy!I certainly enjoyed the fact that at the touch of my number '8' key, I could call up a 'two inches away viewpoint' of the heading indicator and adjust very accurately the assigned headings as they were communicated to me by ATC. Before EZdok (ok, ok...EZdok, lol) I had to squirm back and forth in the the V.C. to get a heading like for instance, 165 degrees. Now? What a blast!----> I call up my 'two inch away' camera of the heading indicator, and dial right in, but in seconds; and most accurately as well. It's the little things like this that you start appreciating by having this app, as it adds to the realism of finding and adjusting what's required with quick action. Especially...in a crowded airspace.Just stuff like that....Mitch
March 25, 201016 yr Well, I just spent half the day playing around with the different generators for the StationAir 6...and I have to say, that now, if I sit in the pilot's seat, or in the 2nd row seating, and looking out the left side of the aircraft...I do not see any difference between this simulated flight experience and the real world. With this app on the Team Play; not any longer. The aircraft's movements induced by A.S. 6.5's weather and EZdok is superb!I've arrived, baby! :( It's now as real as it gets in anything I have flown in....from puddle-jumpers to the Big Iron. Now, let's turn off the computer, and go and change the oil in the 'wing, for daylight's burning....
March 25, 201016 yr i just got ezdok. expensive, yes. an incredible addon? oh yeah! :( i've had a couple of short flights in the a2a cub. didn't touch any settings, just went flying. let me tell you, the feeling of flight is amazing. i found myself totally immersed in my flying, making tiny adjustments on the controls while getting solid feedback from the camera effects. i almost got frighten from the height when i was landing :Dgreat addon!
