How do Dobble your FPS with a small fsx.cfg change A MUST TRY

Featured Replies

hey guys..i found somthing you may want to try.... This is MAJOR.. You can start by adding this in the [GRAPHICS] section of your fsx.cfg file. also, the 'theory' about sound, is partially correct, it was totally on track on what (part) of the problem was... :) the 'sound' plays a huge role here.. specially, the sampling rate.[GRAPHICS]SHADER_CACHE_VERSION=1 // it 're-builds' the Shader Cache (good to do on every fsx.cfg change) just enter a random number (versioning)HIGHMEMFIX=1STALE_BUFFER_THRESHOLD=2147483647 // (2048 megabytes)[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400 // Default is 40 (made 10x faster so we dont end up filling the stale buffer which is also used by the sound card)TextureMaxLoad=30 // Default is 3 (same as above, we need to make video texture transfers *fast* so it won't affect low latency devices)[sOUND]SOUND=1SOUND_QUALITY=2SOUND_LOD=0[bufferPools]UsePools=85000000 <--------------------- THE BIG CHANGE.. add this in your cfg aswell.. in FSX set your FPS limmet to Unlimmeted and BINGO... Also, make sure the sampling rate/quality, for your 'sound card' is set to the 44100 sampling rate (CD Quality) you change this in your Sound Control Panel. 44100Hz is the format used for most .wav files in FSX, when a 'wav' needs re-sampling it takes 'time' which you can't afford to loose in our case.my FPS went from 14 Aerosoft EGLL Capsim Mid settings, Now all max with Rex GUT now around 45 steadyQuick,Easy and Job done!! ENJOY ALL... Pass this fix around!.Concorde mike..

Are you sure that you got this one right? I thought that UsePools was to be used as a flag:

UsePools=0 //BufferPools disabled.UsePools=1 //BufferPools enabled and the value set for Poolsize is then used.

Edited: I would guess that the setting UsePools=85000000 will only enable BufferPools and with no other value it should use the default value pool size.

Just tested this tweak. I use two predefined test scenarios. One is a rural scenario with mixed villages and forrests and the other is a dense urban area (London City). I couldn't notice any difference in average fps in FSX. Seems that the effect of this tweak is system dependant.Worth noting is that I applied the sound tweak to lower the sound qualty to CD-level very long ago.

You guessed right.. UsePools=85000000 is the same as UsePools=1so, what you are really doing is using the default value for the pools (which is 5000000). Flags (such as UsePools) are either true or false, false = 0 true any positive number

What I think he means ispoolsize=85000000IAN

That would make sense. My setting of 10000000 works very well on my system.

Enough "miracle" threads!I lock this one :(
