April 22, 201016 yr Any feedback is good feedback, so thank you!Although we've been working on the Lancair (and other a/c) for well over eighteen months, we're still very much the new kids on the block and of course we have much to learn about this side of the FS development business. We'll take your feedback on board and help it improve the end-product.You guys are doing phenomenal job and what's more important you've set the bar high for other developers with your current PNW release. April 22, 201016 yr Well, they publish pictures and they get feedback, nothing wrong with that. As long as it is constructive, which I think the posts in this thread mostly are.Agreed.... April 23, 201016 yr Author There is a long and informative CAFE report over here on the Lancair Legacy - not exactly the same plane but a close cousin. Lots of charts and specs.http://www.lancairlegacy.com/Gallery_image...gacy_report.pdfRayM When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 23, 201016 yr Agreed.... I say don't post screenshots if you don't want to get a few critical responses....Did you miss John's post dierctly above yours? Clearly, they DID want feedback and it was taken on board in great sprit by John.
April 23, 201016 yr This will fill a nice gap in the aircraft market. It looks great. I'd like to make a few suggestions as well:* Add a little wear and grime to the panel and to the window sills or whatever the things are called. That was what I didn't like about the glasair, it looked very much the VC textures were rushed. We'll be spending most our time in the VC, so I think this shouldn't be overlooked. Think Carenado.* Damage modeling - Not necessarily accusim level, but at least some kind of basic "CHT over xxx deg = trigger default fsx engine fire", "runup not completed before takeoff (CHT below xx deg and full throttle)= trigger engine failure", "flaps down at IAS above XXX = flaps jam"and a few like that. I'm not pretending to know anything about programming, but I'm sure you can keep it pretty simple. I just want to get the slightly intimidating feeling that if i don't watch it, I'll blow the engine or jam the flaps/gear" or whatnot.

Think Carenado. How about.................very little wear. As... almost not even there... :( While it's true that Carenado is famous for recreating the workhorses and rentals of general aviation; you can count on, that most Lancairs, as well as so many other experimental/homebuilt/ kitplanes will have little in the way of blemishes. I know, because I've been around the experimental aircraft business for many years. I freaked out, when I accidently put a scratch on my panel from a screwdriver. :( More than not, we can only go for a year or two, before the blemishes are all fixed up. My plane has a few now, but they'll be gone soon! :) It's the "owners" pride thing. Has to look good for flyins, Oshkosh & Sun & Fun...L.Adamson

This looks like it is going tobe a great looking aircraft and those visual details just stand out in the screenshots that have been published.. Bert
April 24, 201016 yr Author I found a neat Performance Report for the Lancair IV-P produced by the CAFE Foundation, sponsored and funded by the EAA. These are for specific aircraft and this one is really close the the specs as we know them for the ORBX fsx version. The 10 page report starts with . . .The Lancair IV-P is perhaps the most sophisticated homebuilt aircraft available today.Incorporating pressurization and twin turbos with intercoolers, it is a complex and expensivemachine with capabilities that rival jumbo jets.and concludes with . . . .The Lancair IV-P is a beautiful four passenger airplane that is for the serious homebuilder. It is intended to make longtrips at a fantastic speed. It is capable of carrying all of the equipment necessary to do whatever level of flying might beintended. It is not within everyone's budget to build and fly such an airplane, but if you do get the chance to, youwill truly enjoy the experience. The installation of cabin pressurization allows flight above much of the turbulenceand a lot of the unpleasant weather, adding greatly to passenger comfort. My special thanks to the owner for allowing the CAFE Foundation to test his georgeous airplane. It is perfectly built, beautiful to look at and a joy to fly.One of the CAFE measured performance charts for this specific airplane lists the following:Propeller max, static RPM..........2575 rpmVmax,TAS, 29.8" MP, 2607 RPM, 25.1 gph, 2980 lb...... 321 mphT.O. dist., 3183 lb, 8 mph headwind.......1,420 ftLiftoff speed, by........96.6 mph CASTouchdown speed, Barograph, 2872 lb.......84.8 mph CASMinimum sink rate, 4.2" MP, 1445 RPM, 1.1 gph, clean......820 fpm@123 mph CASGlide ratio, 3.6" MP, 1500 RPM, 1.2 gph, 2948 lb.......13.85Noise levels, full power climb/cruise......95.0/95.0Peak CHT in climb,OAT 23 When Pigs Fly . April 24, 201016 yr Commercial Member Yes of course Bert, we're showing you a beta build and those are not final poly counts on the model by a long stretch. We want this bird to be real nice on FPS so we're taking a progressive approach to the poly count and will be finessing all those bevels and the prop housing etc. Fear not - I would not release something that looks too jagged, since that would irk me somewhat too ;)Right now she's extremely FPS friendly even with all systems in operation, so we'll ensure it stays that way. Cheers, John Venema

This one is on my list! Appreciate the "balanced" design approach.. Bert
April 24, 201016 yr Relax everyone, it's Orbx! :( ..... They are all about quality and pushing the bar. It defines them. a really excited user? ... then there are tens of thousands of us, who fly nothing other than Orbx scenery because it far exceeds anything else available.I am sure John would not allow anything other than the highest quality (balanced with performance) for his 1st aircraft addon.:)
April 25, 201016 yr Author Here is a pic of the real plane the ORBX model is based on.Slick.RayM When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
