April 24, 201016 yr Hi,I recently bought the PMDG 747-800i/F for FSX, and I did a clean install of the plane. Now I know this is a model extension as well as an exterior model update. However, if you need the PMDG 747-400X to make it work, how did I lose the virtual upper class cabin if that is part of the 747-400X, which is a pre-requisite for the 800 model? It looks like the default planes, such as the 737 for FSX, which didn't include a virtual passenger cabin. If I go back far enough with the camera, the runway appears. On the 747-400X, I can open the door and see the cabin, however, on the 800 series, the door can be interacted with, however, it does not open. After the install, I ran the configuration tool (in administrator mode) and selected the 747-800i model. Also tried the 400 model with the same result. The virtual cockpit shows up fine, however, I'm missing the passenger cabin which came with the 747-400X. Another thing I wanted to bring up was some users reported FPS increases, however, I did not receive any, so not sure what's going on. Anyways, any help would be nice. Thanks.System specs (just for reference):Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, BFG GTX 280, Windows 7 64-bit.Jeff ThomsonEdit: Okay, I found the cabin. Must have changed something from the previous 747-400 model. Normally you would open the cockpit door and it would be there. However, it seems with the 800 series, the wing view shows the cabin if you fiddle with the view finder. Cabin door is still locked though. Maybe they changed that from the 400 model. Jeff Thomson
April 24, 201016 yr There are different meanings for models. The virtual cockpit model may only include the interior of the cockpit; therefore, if you move the viewpoint outside that model you don't see an airplane but just the 'backside' of the surfaces. This is done to improve the simulation performace, which is slowed down by large complex models even if surfaces are hidden. No need to slow down the cockpit for the sake of a first class section, right? Dan Downs KCRP
