Where are the files to help a newbie connect to VATSIM

Featured Replies

I have just purchased FSX Deluxe. Its very good. Ive even has a lot of fun downloading fighter Jets. Some cockpits and the controls are very good.I would like to fly on an online network, like VATSIM or VATPAC but I havent much idea how to get going. Could you point me to some help files for stupid people :)

Glad to hear you're ready to take the plunge, you're in for a treat!First of all, Vatpac is the same as Vatsim. Vatsim divides into regions and vatpac stands for "VATsim PACific". You also have VATUSA in USA, VATEUR in Europe etc etc.The quick start guide is here: http://www.vatsim.net/pilots/quickstart/ You do need to download a small program ( "pilot client" ), and the guide links to a few options. I recommend Squawkbox as it's the easiest to get your head around. There'll be a bit of reading to get the basics down but I guarantee you won't regret it when on final approach into LAX on a busy Saturday. :(
