Aerosoft's Mega Airport Stockholm Arlanda...any good?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for the best scenery addon for Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA) airport and found the package in the subject line, would appreciate any input and comments about it...if it's a good choice or if there are better alternatives out there since I asked last time back in 2008?I also wonder if it's a "true" FSX addon since the description says it's both for FS9 and FSX, does that mean it's only one package that is working both for FS9 and FSX or is it in fact 2 separate packages included, one for FS9 and one for FSX? Since I'm only running FSX I prefer to use addons made specifically for FSX.

I have this and several other Aerosoft airports (almost all of them) and they are all very good in my opinion. A Far as for Stockholm Arlanda, I think this is the only one out there (unless I am missing something). As I said though, I think it is very good and offers very good performance as well.Cheers, Pete

Only option for fsx I believe. I think it looks great, but swedflight isn't in existence anymore, so not many other options and not any other addon scenery airports around to hop to

Its really the best option for FS2004 and FSX compared to what else was out there. Also it has AES support for both versions. When you purchase the scenery you get a link for both FSX and FS2004 versions. The FSX version is larger in filesize due to higher sized textures.Craig

Thanks for all your input guys!I just posted a question about the missing runway numbers in Aerosoft's forum, will hold on for a while until I receive an answer from them but I hope that issue will be fixed since I find it quite major to have runway numbers. If I get this ESSA package I think I'll get AES as well, seems to be a cool addon making the ground handling much more fun!

There is also the problem with taxiway lighting at night, that is misplaced and look awful, i wish they adress that, but given up hope...Cheers Henrik Owenius

OK, thanks for letting me know. Guess all we can do is hoping they'll fix it since these kind of issues hold back people like myself from buying their software but what do I know...maybe the cost fixing it is greater than what they loose from not doing it. Considering what has already been said here that there isn't any real alternatives I really hope they will fix the current issues!

Actually I just checked my account in the Aerosoft download shop. The current installer is version 1.01 and it has runway numbers. Seems they just forgot to tell anyone (or maybe I missed an announcement). The taxi light problem is still there, though - the green lights are displaced from the light "blobs" on the ground.

AES transforms Flight Sim....it's a hidden gem for simmers who like the tube liners.I have to force myself to fly from unsupported airports because I ve come used to the ground crew looking after me so well! But with the number of supported airports now, you can easily never be without a pushback!Rich

That's great news the runway numbers are there in the latest version! As for the taxi lights problem, would it be possible for you to post a screenshot showing the problem?
