Carmine called me from FSFactory......hmmmmm...???

So, I am sitting here and replying to emails since I have been sick the last couple of days.....Well, my wife hands me the phone and says Carmine is on the phone. As I chuckle since I don't know any Carmine's, I thought I wonder if.....Well, It was. :-)We talked about 20 minutes about all kinds of things and I asked his permission if I could post some of our conversation here. He agreed. I asked him where he got my phone number from and we agreed it was pretty easy to find, since I'm pretty involved in my community. I also have his phone number as well. He said he was relieved to at least talk to anyone regarding this, so I guess I respect that as well that he went out of his way to call me.*******************************************I gained some background from him and we both agreed that he messed up. He apologized and told me what his intent was and I gave him some of my free advice. (I really should charge for this stuff... :-) )He apologized for what he did, and he is trying to make things right again. He has since posted a public apology at his site right on the front page. He also is removing some posts from his forums that said some things that probably could have been worded a bit differently.You know what.I believe him after talking to him on the phone and heeding my advice. It doesn't excuse what he did, but I believe it was from his heart. He has also talked with his ISP and ensured them it will not happen again with regards to emails. I also advised him on files and not to take the FSplanet route, and he agreed on that as well. Time will tell, I know, and it is now up to him to rectify this.Folks, most of you know me from what I write and the stances I take on right and wrong.I believe someone should be commended for making an apology, posting it in public, and trying to rectify the situation. In retrospect, there have been others given a second chance before and maybe this is one of those cases. This is just my opinion, and I have sent Tom a separate email with additional information.Folks, we all make mistakes from time to time. Joe,Thank you for your post. I fully agree that people deserve a second chance. Life is hard enough, and it speaks volumes when people own up to their mistakes. If Carmine does return, he will be more than welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Justice if it is to remain humane must always be tempered with mercy, rational thinking and an understanding of the human condition. We all make mistakes. Some of them are doozies. Joe,Thanks for posting that.I too received the e-mail but after a quick scan deleted it and did not think it had come from AVSIM, I took at face value what Carmine said about the way he obtained the e-mail address.I was not affected to the same extent as others so probably took a more relaxed approach although decided not to visit the site.I agree that Carmine should be commended for the public appology, assuming it is meant - and I have no reason to doubt that. However some of the replies posted in the other thread indicate that Carmine does/did not think he had done anything wrong, maybe those replies were posted while he was still hurting from the back lash.There are many in this community, as in the real world, that are both unable and unwilling to admit mistakes when they occur, a current confrontation with another web site springs to mind;). These people are spineless wonders in my eyes, it takes far more guts to admit to mistakes than ignore them.Rgds

On a bit of a different note,you'd be surprised to know just how easy it is to get phone numbers and address's.Its as simple as typing in a persons name,city and state in GOOGLE. POOF,if your listed in the phone book then there's your name,number and street address depending on how its actually listed in the phone book.David

Let me just add to other posts, that I do hope Tom and Carmine come to an accord. I do not know whether his web site will ever become as popular as avsim, but I do believe he is sincere in his apology and deserves to be welcome back into the avsim family. I think he should get another chance myself, especially in light of my ultra harsh e-mail to him, it was really harsh to him, and now even I feel guilty on the guy.I hope he calls Tom.Regards.. Do not be fooled by this con artist.. look at his site, he has internet knowledge alright and read his forums messages. Still today, bashing AVSIM and folks here and the language used is EXTREMELY VULGAR.He needs to be banned for life from here!btw..if its any consolation, I felt as you did, but changed my mind after reading his forum messages.Regards..
