Fsx crashes in Win 7 64 bit

Recommended Posts

I have been getting these strange crashes lately (and I apply no tweaks) and have a feeling something got hosed perhaps in microsoft net or c++ or something?I get this often when I change an aircraft within the program, followed by a crash. Then these other two out of the blue:I got this one twice tonight when coming up on the threshold of a runway-happened exactly at the same time.Anyone have any idea how to fix? Thanks!

Hi GeofThe Smartassembly error message can come from a glitch with Ultimate Traffic 2. (Smartassembly is just a reporting tool)Do you use it maybe? If yes, so I suggest you uninstall it (just remove the entry from FSX.cfg MAIN section) and see if the CTD still occurs.Reinstalling UT2 might help also. Also, try to disable your antivirus before launching FSX. I know there is a problem with McAfee and some others.Reinstalling Visual C++ is also something I would do. You'll find the 2008 version for Win7 x64 hereHope it helps!

David-thanks for the advice. I do have UT2 so I will look into that. I also have the enb mod and it occurs to me that could also be doing it. Thanks for the c++ link-I'll start with that. Thanks again!

Geof, it's a rare occurrance that I can get FSX to run a new flight in a different plane after concluding a previous flight, especially in a plane other than the stock FSX aircraft. (LOL)My standard practice is to close FSX after a flight, and do a fresh re-opening, that's the only thing that works for me if you're flying something like the Citation X on the initial flight.
