Mushkin Redline 3x2GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Featured Replies

Let us know how it works out. FYI, my sim never crashed, but I would get random BSOD during startup, and occasionally my computer wouldn't post. When I switched to the Mushkin, it was a night and day difference. I have had NO BSOD's, and the BIOS posts every time I start the computer. I am sworn off OCZ memory for now.
Shane, could you post your OC bios settings for your P6t? The principal ones you tweaked to get to 4.0gig. Also, I notice that when XMP is turned on, the RAM voltage goes to 1.65v in auto. Did you leave it there or underclock it slightly? Thanks.Bob..

I never really had concrete settings at 4.0 or even 4.2 because I thought my overclock was unstable, so I was always adjusting values. It turns out that it was the memory that was unstable, and I probably had several BIOS settings that would have produced a stable overclock.I am going to post where I am at currently for 4.4Ghz. For 4.0Ghz, you could set the CPU multiplier to 20 and the BCLK Frequency to 200Mhz. Both CPU voltage and QPI DRAM Voltage at 1.375, and CPU PLL voltage at 1.96 should be good for 4.0Ghz in most cases. Also, I don't use XMP as I couldn't keep the memory at 1600Mhz when I started increasing the BCLK Frequency. I set the DRAM bus voltage to 1.66 (that is as close to 1.65v as possible), and manually set the DRAM Frequency to 1600MHz, and the memory timings via the DRAM Timing Control menu to 6/8/6/24.Here is my 4.4Ghz BIOS:AI TWEAKER MENUAI Overclock Tuner - MANUALCPU Ratio Setting - 21.0Intel ® SpeedStep Tech - DisabledBCLK Frequency - 210PCIE Frequency - 100DRAM Frequency - DDR3 - 1603MHz UCLK Frequency - AutoQPI Link Data Rate - AutoDRAM Timing Control - 6/8/6/24CPU Voltage - 1.43750CPU PLL Voltage - 2.10QPI/DRAM Core Voltage - 1.40625IOH Voltage - 1.38IOH PCIE Voltage - 1.80ICH Voltage - 1.40ICH PCIE Voltage - 1.80DRAM Bus Voltage - 1.66*ALL DRAM Settings below DRAM Bus Voltage - Auto*Load-Line Calibration - AutoCPU Differential Amplitude - 800mVCPU Clock Skew - AutoCPU Spread Spectrum - DisabledIOH Clock Skew - AutoPCIE Spread Spectrum - DisabledADVANCE MENU (CPU Configuration)CPU Ration Setting - 21.0C1E Support - DisabledHardware Prefetcher - EnabledAdjacent Cache Line Prefetch - EnabledIntel Virtualization Tech - DisabledCPU TM Function - DisabledExecute Disable Bit - EnabledIntel HT Technology - DisabledActive Processor Cores - ALLA20M - DisabledIntel SpeedStep Tech - DisabledIntel C-STATE Tech - DisabledPOWER MENUSuspend Mode - AUTORepost Video on S3 Resume - NoACPI 2.0 Support - EnabledACPI APIC Support - Enabled

Audiohavoc, can you confirm if the Mushkin modelnr. is 998805? I am also considering replacing my OCZ memory. I had lots of stability problems with these, even without overclocking. I finally got them running more or less stable but I have the feeling it's holding back my system. It's difficult though to find Mushkin memory in The Netherlands and the 998805 which I guess you are using aren't sold anywhere. I can find it at Amazon Germany though (link to item at Amazon.de) so that might be the best way to get it.

Yes, 998805 is the model I am using.

You've got them here:http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php...stbyteZoll.htmlI think they are cheaper than the Amazon ones. :(

I just built a new rig, and also chose the Mushkin Enhanced Redline 998805 memory. So far so good running at 1600mhz and cas 6 timings. No CTD's, or anything. My system specs:Case: CoolerMaster HAF 932Power: Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850WMotherboard: ASUS P6X58D PremiumCPU: Intel Core i7 960 Bloomfield (3.2Ghz)Cooler: Thermalright Venomous X - RTVideo: EVGA GeForce GTX-480 SuperClocked (015-P3-1482-AR)Hard Drives: WD VelociRaptor 300GB (3.0Gb/s), WD VelociRaptor 600GB (6.0Gb/s)OS: Windows 7 Pro x64I have not done any overclocking yet, but did follow NickN's tweak guide. So far, I am pleased with the results! I'm finally able to run FSX!

Nice setup, it is really similar to what I have, specs in sig. I went with the CoolerMaster HAF922, and really like it.

David, Thank you for the link. That's much cheaper than Amazon indeed.

Add another Mushkinoid to the list :( Got swift support on their forum and was finally convinced it was the way to go. I plan on an OC to 1800. And they need no additional cooling as long as the case is well vented (and they

I have a question I can not seem to find a good theoretical answer to. I have 3 x 2g = 6g Kingston HyperX 1600mhz with cas=9 running at 1638mhz. If I swapped out for the Cas 6 Mushkin being discussed here would I see a noticable real world FSX difference in actual performance in FPS or smoothness? What do you think?Stephen

After reading this post, I was thinking the same thing. I have 4GB of 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 ram sitting around collecting dust and might sell all 8gb for some low timing ram. I noticed a difference from 8gb to 4gb right away. Both running at 1600mhz but the 8gb where 11-11-11-31 timings where the 4gb is 8-8-8-24. In all the Nvidia forums, there chip set is only rated for 4gb for overclocking and not 8gb sets. Whish I new that before I dropped the $160 on my Dominator ram.

Bump... Anyone with expertise in this particular piece of black art?

I would think that as long as you matched it to a qualifying CPU that can handle the bandwidth, like a i7-920 or better, properly overclocked, yes, you would see a difference. There's a big difference between CAS9 and CAS6 timings, but you have to match everything on the bus, including the CPU.
