hm, I need new cpu.... Please Help

Recommended Posts

ok, I got fs9. Looks great but all those beautiful clouds etc. takes FPS. I'm thinking about new CPU.Now I have Athlon XP2100, Geforce4ti4600, 512RAM, WIN XP. Should I upgrade? I dont know..... I'm thinking about pentium 2.8 because the price difference between 2.8 and 3.0-3.2 is big. If I will go for 2.8 and radeon9800pro, will I notice big difference in FPS? maybe I should get athlon?I dont know.... Please Help...Thank YouJacek

Last month, I picked up a Dell 2.8 Ghz with 512 MB ram and Raedon 9800 standard Video Card.FS2002 - The framerates are great. I have most sliders maxed (Autogen is one neder maxed), use Bi Liner filtering and no scenery shadows (I use Aircraft Shadows). Even with dense add on sceneries, using a Meljet 777 (very tough on FPS) I have not seen FPS less then mid 20's!The only problem I see is the ATC and message text is a little fuzy but I can live with thatFS2004 - Took a Meljet Plane to Heathrow. Maxed out most scenery detail (no scenery shadows) using complex clouds set to mid level. I see 17 - 20 FPS in this configuration. Using the stock planes, I am well into the 20's. Tweak down the clouds or sceenry slidres a little and I am at the high 20's So, overall, I am very very happy with the 2.8 Ghz, 512 MB ram and Raedon 9800 standard.I think the RAM is critical, I would not get less the 512Hope this helps.Mark
