High Priority Occupancy trick

Does anyone is using the hp processor trick for FS2004?If you don't know what's that trick well, here we go:by doing this, your processor will work in high priority for the program you want. If you want your processor to work in high priority for FS2004 here's the instructions:In your FS2004 folder create a text file by right clicking your mouse and choose the "new" tab and then text file. In that text file write this line "start /high fs9.exe" without the quotes. After you wrote this click on the file tab in that folder and click "save under" Name that file "start fs9.bat" without the quotes. You will have a .bat file appearing in your FS2004 folder. Right click it and choose send a shortcut to my desktop. Go to your desktop and change this shortcut icon by right clicking it going to propreties, change icon and choose the fs9 in you main FS2004 folder. Delete the original shortcut on your desktop,if you had one, and rename your the one you just did for "Flight Simulator 2004" or whatever you want to call it. Now when you're gonna start the game with this shortcut, your processor will give everything he have for FS2004. Sorry for the writing, i'm from Quebec,Canada and i speak french everyday. I tried this "trick" and did not get any improvement in performance. I am using Win XP. This can also be done from the task manager and I tried that as well and nothing improved.YMMV :-)ThanksBill

hi,Im on Windows 2000 pro and it worked for me I noticed that the sim ran noticiably smoother and with more consistent fps. Looks like my cpu wasent giving all it had to fs2004 before this trick. :-)Andrew

It sure seemed to work for me. I have FPS locked at 25 & it seemed to stay there. Much smoother & less hard drive thrashing. Thanks.Pat Callaghan

It worked wonders on my system. I'm getting around twice the FPS I use to get in 2002. I still get bogged down at places like LAX, but FPS remain well withen accaptable ranges. I fly remote strips any way!

Ok this is for FS2004, but how can I do this for FS2002?

same way just instead of fs9.exe use teh name of the fs2002 executeable

Run an advance search in the Radar Contact forum.Key words high bat you'll see the posts near the bottom of the list

Ive always know about the priority, but never thought to use it in fs.. i just did it.. and I can totally say withought any doubt that it works well on my system, very nice tweak.. more people should know about this one

Another way to create the batch file:Start notepad and add the following lines :CdProgram FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9start/high fs9.exeSave the file to your desktop with and .bat extension. Name it what you like eg fs9.batIt should run from there no problems.Bill
