You should be able to set trim with the keyboard, I think the default keys are 1 and 7 on the numeric keypad (but could be wrong about that, make sure to try it with and without the number lock key on as well, since that can affect it). In any case, you should be able to assign trim to your joystick in the FS options, or any key you like on the keyboard. In the meantime, keep that gear down for a while, rolling along the runway at 230 knots in an MD-11 would probably set the wheels on fire and blow the tires off the wheels :( Al

The MD-11 is a fast bird to begin with. It takes off fast, flies fast, and lands fast. Flying out of LFPG headed to KSEA last night, I had a takeoff run of 7,800ft and a Vr speed of 184kts. 220kts does sound a bit fast. Overweight? It doesn't sound like a trim issue, because even with full down trim, the plane will become airborne just by lift generated. Also for a t/o weight of around 600,000lbs, you will have to trim around 7 units up.Keep in mind that even a lightly loaded MD-11 has a Vr speed of around 160kts.

eh ... get the PMDG MD11 ? :(
Well, there is that. However, apart from the fact that it costs literally twice as much as the Sky Sim one, not everyone wants that kind of complexity in FS, so it's not always the solution to everyone's issues. It's worth remembering that a lot of simmers are happy with simulated aircraft that don't go into the kind of detail that PMDG specialise in, in fact, the vast majority of people with FS are in the lighter treatment camp. It often doesn't seem that way if you frequent places such as Avsim, where there's certainly a higher proportion of realism junkies, but it is nevertheless true.Al

It seems very true Al.Strange thing I often find, is the unability or simply no intention to want to know more and get deeper in it.For example, my beloved RFP747 has no secrets anymore for me, and its a pitty no more is simulated with penalties and such. Some say this plane is very deeply simulated, and it is when you start with it, but if one really wants to know more, it quickly becomevery simple.Same for the MD11 I expect, looks intimidating, but in the end, 'they all float' (guess the movie)Johan
