December 15, 201114 yr My structure on every files looks like this:AGS2010 Transport=== Sceneryfor example. The order is identical to what you posted.I just moved Exclusion to the top of the list and it got rid of auto gen all over the airports but all the shorelines disappeared, looks like fs98 over by Acapulco. If I move Exclusion back down to the bottom the auto gen returns and the shorelines look beautiful. The big problem is with my inexperience I do not remember what is a texture file and what is a scenery file. I assumed all were scenery files and so only have a scenery sub folder in each main category as shown above. I will create a texture folder in the exclude and put the super autogen in there and see how it goes. Thanks Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Sounds like progress. The Exclusion must be the very bottom entry in that arrangement, so leave it there. Exclusion also is the only folder that needs the texture subfolder, I've just checked my installation. In this subfolder, the autogen files of your choice should be placed. Should be a bunch of agn files, no bgl.
December 15, 201114 yr Still have autogen all over the airports.I wonder if other addons like GEX could be interfering. The priority is corrects w/n the AGS structure but I wonder if they all need to be below something else. After pic 3 it is all default FSX scenery and priorities.I created a texture folder in exclude and placed all of the super autogen there. I also installed all of the terrain files into AGS2010 Terrain and placed in priority 8.Everything isAGS ... Scenery Texture (in the case of exclude) Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Seems like your FTX mode is still on. The Orbx stuff shouldn't show up in the library when it's off. The AES folder is meant to run on top of all others. I don't know if that adds to the problem though. When seeing the autogen all over the place, some exclusion may indeed fail. Can you disable all other sceneries and run FSX default plus AGS only? This would help checking if AGS itself is in trouble. How big is the exclusion folder from AGS? Should close to 80mb when the autogen is installed.
December 15, 201114 yr CoolPYou nailed it, I disabled FTX and everything is fine now with that problem. I now have another major problem and this is a dealbreaker for me. Checkout this pic. I cant believe Wellington would do this with these textures. I have to think I messed something up here. This is only with the interface between snow textures and a few other ones like forest and fields. It's all just a patchwork of squares. Also the shorelines, while more detailed are all squared off and jagged. Is this how it is supposed to be? Naww cant be. This pic is the southern Andes and it looks terrible. Other regions w/o snow look incredible but I need to fix this otherwise it has to come off.Maybe go check out the southern Andes where there is snow and tell me if you see the same thing. Thanks Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Ok I nailed it down to the Vegetation folder which is causing this. I de activated it and now it looks superb. I can live with the microjaggies on the shorelines since I fly mostly from very high altitude and it looks much better. I do have all the GEX regions installed and perhaps there is a conflict here, I dont know.I have a feeling the quilt might be on my part so I just want to say thank you to Wellington for an otherwise great job with this, especially when the files get moved to Avsim. On another note, how would I fly from this region to my FTX region in Australia now? Cake and eat it to syndrome again I guess. Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Give me some coordinates and I can check. The sort of squared appearance of different texture types is by design I think, but it doesn't come in as hard as on your screenshot. I haven't flown across all areas so far though, maybe some are rougher.Darn, I had some nice screenshots with before and after, but I've deleted them back then. Stupid me.On the GEX textures, I think AGS will make use of them. At least it does here and I saw them being placed around SAEZ for example. This is by design as GEX replaces the default FSX ones and AGS rearranges those. I don't know which GEX product delivers the ones AGS uses though. I think GEX Atlantic and Pacific Tropics should write some stuff which enhances the freeware some more.As said, I just need the coordinates and can post a screenshot then. On another note, how would I fly from this region to my FTX region in Australia now? Cake and eat it to syndrome again I guess. I would have to check if Orbx really mixes up the AGS stuff that hard. It could be since the FTX mode is there for a reason and changes a lot on the whole texture arrangements, if I understood it correctly.
December 15, 201114 yr CoolIP,If you go to anywhere in South America where there is the divide between snow and no snow you will see this. This is the Tierra Del fuego region. But this problem is everywhere. I would give you exact coordinates but now I am having another problem in that the sim gets stuck at 99% loading land, sea and air traffic and I have to task out, it stops responding. I have since disabled all AGS and am now having no more problems with this. So untill I get this loading problem resolved with AGS I am no longer using it and may delete it from my hard drive. I just have 100's of hours invested in this sim to take a chance on permanently screwing it up. A re-install would be the end of the world for me, it would take at least 25 hours of work.I really appreciate you help with this though, not sure why this is happening but it is AGS related. Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Just had a really bad scare. After unchecking these AGS areas in the Scenery Library, I forgot to delete them to. I went to KSAN and slewed upward and saw the shock of my life. After millions of years the earths oceans dried up and desert as far as you could see out to the west. First thing I noticed was the cruise ship sitting on dry land. I seriously had no more water anywhere, it was all local desert textures. So I deleted all these AGS areas and got them as far away from my computer as possible. Serious waste of 10 hours last night and today. I need a job.Just a note to the developer here.I am not sure but this may all be on my part here, others seem to do fine with it but see if you can write the read me's a little better. It is the classic directions written by an engineer to a layman where they just assume they know everything you know. This is not the case with most people me who could not tell the difference between a .bgl or an autogen file if they hit him in the face. Heck, I even suck at EZScenery. I feel bad about complaining here because you have worked so hard on this and it is free but if everyone cannot understand how to properly install your product there will be mistakes and many will decide that your product is no good when it may be very good. The other major issue is the download delivery. There is just way to much possibility of making a mistake for the user doing it this way, to many chances for one corrupt file that the downloader or unzipper did not perform as it should with and you would never know which one it was. This is what I think has happened to me in my search for a better FSX but I am just not willing to go back and download for another 3-4 hours again either.I am just grateful I now see water where there is supposed to be.One other thing. You have obviously put in many hours of love into this. How much harder would it be to have it all automatically install and be available as a few downloads form Avsim? Or at least organize it in those 10 areas for download and then have one clear and concise for the layman readme file. Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr First of all, a reasonable text of yours, Marc. Sorry that it didn't work at your end.You are right on the Vegetation entry, that's the one leading to the 'digital' impression and I have Scenery Tech Landclass SA instead. Here are some shots I took. Note. All shots will incorporate my GEX textures, so 'default' isn't real default, but default plus GEX.default SAWHAGS fully enabledAGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC ondefault SCELAGS fully enabledAGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC onSCEL from GERandom slew endpoint in South AmericadefaultAGS fully enabledAGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC onAnother random pointdefaultAGS fully enabledAGS except for Vegetation onAGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC onHere's SAEZdefaultAGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC ondefault 2AGS, Vegetation off, Scenery Tech LC on 2
December 15, 201114 yr Those squares just look terrible. I am going to see if I can just use the Hydro file for the shorelines since this is the major gripe I have with FSX right now outside of the FSX default enhance areas like the US. For some reason these files caused a desert in the pacific and half the time a constantly slowing down and then frozen loading screen at 99%. Marc Lynn
December 15, 201114 yr Certainly, the default scenery is a harmful thing for the eyes. As there isn't much payware around, the Scenery Tech stuff does good with the freeware I think. So disable Vegetation and maybe try the ST stuff. Christmas may bring sales.Maybe Wellington can chime in and help us understanding the 'digital' impression the Vegetation entry delivers. I can't rule out that I did something wrong, but I wouldn't know what it could have been then. That loading problem of yours is strange. It shouldn't happen just from adding the files. Keep us posted if you find the culprit.
December 26, 201114 yr Hello,Regarding this subject, I would like to know if SAGS 2010 v2.0 with FS Mesh South America is about the same, better or not than OpenVFR because of the vector data and SRTM mesh that looks very similar in the screenshots posted by the two places. Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks for your help,Alex Alexander Colka
December 28, 201114 yr I also had problems clicking on the link after the wait period was over. I then started clicking on the torrent link that was on the bottom and was able to get the rest of the files very quickly.
