Where the sun always shines....

Recommended Posts

How many of you have decided that the weather is always going to be pleasant in FS2004? Overcast is just too much of a system killer.Speaking for myself, I am thinking about living in a perpetual summer. It's a bit of a shame, since bad weather adds some fun and challenge, but I much prefer to run at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 4xAF in fairly clear weather rather than 1024x768 with lots of clouds ... and real-world weather just doesn't seem to be an option--multiple cloud layers turn things into a slide show (with a very slow slide projector).Another thing I'm considering is running at 1600x1200 windowed-mode in typical situations, and setting my full screen to 1280x960. That way, any time the fps starts to drag, I can quickly drop down to a lower resolution, but I don't have to sactifice overall quality for a worst case scenario. On a related note, is anyone working on replacement textures for the 2d clouds? It'd be great to run with 10% or 30% 3d clouds, but the current imposters are actually much uglier than the 2d clouds in FS2002.
