Satisfaction FS2004

Recommended Posts

Guest daveg4otu

We are now about two weeks(depending on where in the world you are)into FS9/FS2004/COF(whichever).Obviously thousands(probably hundreds of thousands) of copies have been sold and I suspect that the users of forums like these represent only a tiny percentage of the total. In addition ,I believe that users of these forums are probably -1; more demanding of FS than the average user, and 2:More inclined to "fiddle" with it and try to "improve" itWhat I would like to do is ask all readers three questions----1:Are you glad you bought FS2004(yes or no).2:Are you satisfied with FS2004- if not why not?(Qualify your answer in as much detail as you like)3(Within reason)What one thing would you most like to change in FS2004?For the record ,my own answers---1:Yes2:Yes but I think some of the scenery could have been better for very little effort by Microsoft(EG Bridges etc)3:I would have liked the option to be able to use the old FS2k2 GPS system to be available .Tho' I don't have too much of a framerate problem the new GPS is obviously much more demanding of the system.Good flying to you allDave

1.Yes2.Yes3.I have to agree on the GPS, the declutter doesn't help much and steep turns are just not good for it. I get 5-6FPS drop when using the garmins.

>>1:Are you glad you bought FS2004(yes or no).>yes>2:Are you satisfied with FS2004- if not why not?(Qualify your>answer in as much detail as you like)>certainly.>3(Within reason)What one thing would you most like to change>in FS2004?>MP compatibility with older versions would be very nice to have during the transition period.>2:Yes but I think some of the scenery could have been better>for very little effort by Microsoft(EG Bridges etc)Would actually have been considerable effort. They'd have to check each and every entry in the world scenery database they purchase (can't imagine them compiling it themselves, too much work and there are specialised firms) if it is in the correct place. It's not just a few bridges, it's tens of thousands of bridges, hundreds of thousands of buildings, etc. etc. for millions of items worldwide that would have to be checked by hand based on some other (let's consider it perfect, which would mean having someone go there and check with a GPS unit) by hand. And that would still not guarantee you get no missing objects, it would only guarantee you get all the ones you do get in the right place. You're talking about remapping the entire roadnetwork of the entire world by hand to be a minor effort...

1. I'm a simmer, of course!2. Very satisfied, hopefully more so once I get my new highend system, I'll probably have issues then! LOLI think MS added a ton to the scenery, new textures, new buildings, new road layout (poles, lights, signs, flatten on mountain sides), the autogen layout, etc I would rather have all this and a few bridges missing than none at all.I don't notice a hit with the new GPS, kinda hard to "get in to" at first, but I like it.3. I wouild like to see the MP environment even more realistic. I fly helis and GA mostly and have done a few MP sessions, and while it is better, the motion is still a bit jerky and the animation isn't 100%, but I am happy with what I have, look forward to it being better though.AFCAD is a must, but I am sure it is coming, so I have no problem there. While it performs BETTER than Fs2002 did, I would like even more performance, but that is all of us! LOLcompatability isn't an issue for me, active camera was the main thing I was missing and I have that now (thanks guys!!) FSD have gotten the Cheyenne workable and thanks to Bert I have the cessna 421 working, just need the seneca and I am set! I am a VC flyer and don't use to many FSDS1 models so I am not missing much there. If you are a simmer, FS9 is a MUST HAVE (IMHO)!Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com
