Recommended Posts

I want to know why Cathay Pacific International flights always come from New Westminister instead of the mouth of Vancouver? Please reply if anything is unclear.

That would depend on which runways and STARs are in use, and that depends on time of day as well as weather. Here are the runways in order of preference:From 6 am until 11 pm (One direction flow):Departures: 1.) 26L, 26R (peak periods only), 2.) 08R, 08L (peak periods only), 12, 3.) 30, 4.) 12.Arrivals: 1.) 26R, 26L, 12, 2.) 08L, 08R, 12,3.) 30,4.) 12.From 11 pm until 6 am (Two direction flow):Departures:1.) 26L,2.) 30,Arrivals:1.) 08R,2.) 12.These will be in effect as long as the effective crosswind component does not exceed 25 knots, and the effective tailwind component does not exceed 5 knots. At YVR, Cathay Pacific operates a daily service to and from Hong Kong and New York (JFK).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
