Imaginesim WSSS Changi International Airport!

Featured Replies

What I meant in my first sentence by "old" is the Singapore scenery done by Samsoft. I stopped using it because of the constant CTD as I approached to land. Took all the fun out of flying. Because of this, I removed it from my game. Today, I reinstalled it so I can use it with Imaginesim's WSSS.I don't know why it's not working on your system. Not to be insulting, but in your Very Singapore folder do you have both a Scenery and Texture folder? I placed my Very Singapore folder in the FS2004 Addon Scenery folder and then added it to my scenery library. In my scenery library I've installed them in this order: WSSS Singapore FS2004 v1.0WSSS Singapore FS2004 v1.0 LCVery Singapore.I hope this helps,Mike Franks

Thanks for your quick replyBought TVS in 2005, have both scenery & texture folders in the Addon scenery folder, Imagine is in the main FS9 folder where it is automatically put.Have 71 files in the scenery folder including a bak file.sgbd01b.bak 113kb dated 1/6/05 which was replaced by sgd01b.bgl 117kb dated 21/6/05. ( Reason forgot as it is not included in the update folder)The original TVS gave a lot of CTD's so I downloaded a patch from the Samsoft site. this included 8 bgl's & 30 texture files.Even with the patch I still got CTD's which was very frustrating as I liked the airport & city.Cannot ask Samsoft because on my computer the website is seen as being "infected", and e-mails sent in the far past were never answered.

I only have 60 BGL files and 1 BAK in my scenery folder and 462 items in my texture folder. My TVS folder was sitting in my addon scenery folder, so I just reactivated it in FS2004. I'm sure I already had the patch installed. Also, when I was surfing AVSIM file library this morning I realized my scenery folder included the "unofficial" patch available on AVSIM for this scenery. I got so frustrated with Samsoft that I stopped dealing with them. Why waste your time emailing them, they weren't going to respond.Did you ever get your TVS scenery to work with Imaginesim's WSSS? I think the city scenery looks pretty good with this airport. I just completed a flight from VTBS.Mike Franks

Hello,

I pulled out my old The Very Singapore and added it to my NEW WSSS by Imaginesim.
Thank's .. work great for me !Regards.bye.gifGus.

Just FYI, The Very Singapore had a known memory leak that never got patched (at least I don't recall it being patched). That was the cause of most CTDs. IIRC it had something to do with landclass. I forgot the unofficial fix though. I hadn't used TVS in years.

Cheers,

Mack

Hi Mike,Recounted my files, have the same number as you. Downloaded the Avsim patch to check but there were only 3 bgl's ( which have been move out according to your list) and one "concrete" texture file. After my black screen and not responding message I removed the modified TVS from the Scenery Library. However when I restarted my FS9 and ticked in WSSS i got a CTD immediately. Had to restart the computer in order to use the Imagine WSSS.So even removed I had a conflict with TVS.The only Afcad I now have is WSSS_ADE9_AMP. which came with Imagine. My video card is an nVidia 128 MB, up loading cost a little more time but usually very little problems.

Made a second attempt today, and now I have the city so I do not know why I got the CTD with the the first attempt. Many thanks to Mike Franks for finding all the files which needed to be deleted in order to make these twee sceneries work together.

Christiaan,I'm glad to hear it's working. I know how frustrating it can be trying to figure out what went wrong. It works one minute and the next minute something different. I hope you enjoy flying to/from WSSS. It's a fun city. Or, as they say, "it's a fine city." There's a fine for every offense.Mike Franks

Hi Fellow simmersI have purchased this airport and it appears to be well presented and detailed. However I have "shimmering" on the buildings, fences and runway lines while moving. All my default airports are stable and sharp and I can run with all my sliders maxed and mipmapping on 4. I realize this is a complex add-on but ask if anyone else has experienced this with other Imaginesim airports.I have searched for reasons and also emailed Imaginesim, who replied promptly saying maybe Display settings or Graphics but after many different tweaks, none of those suggestions worked.Other forum comments regarding "shimmerimg" appear unsure with no definitive answer. My specs: Intel Duo 2 Core E8400 @ 3Ghz 320GB HD- 2Gb Ram GTS8800 Graphics - 512 Mb (196.21Driver) Windows XP HomeI would appreciate any advice Thanks Alla

Alla,I don't have this problem with WSSS, but I did have this problem with Imaginesim VHHH. It was really bad. Almost hurt my eyes to look at it. Imaginesim worked with me and eventually I was able to tone it down enough I could enjoy the airport. I believe I made my FS2004 game settings higher. I don't recall exactly what I did, but I do know what you're talking about. I do know it's not their scenery. My problem was due to my game settings.I know this doesn't help much. Maybe some of the very smart people on this forum can jump in and resolve.Mike Franks

Hello Mike I believe its the way that imaginesim handles there textures and modeling. most people like myself solve the issue's by having very specific settings in the video card. in this website it mentions all the settings to get it to look good. its from fsx but also applys to fs9 but this is only if you have a decent video card in your system this is specifically for nivida cards.http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29430

Hi Mike Thanks for your contribution. I was also looking to buy VHHH but not while this situation remains.I not sure whether this item location is the right place for other members to see this post or whether I should create a new post on this matter.I have read about not double posting but I'm not sure if that would be so.Regards AlanHi SilverbirdThanks also for your input. I am not familiar with enhancer and because I have terrific graphics for all my other flying and scenery I will probably end up putting up with the shimmering on this one add-on.Regards Alan

Good points everyone. I too use nHancer and highly recommend it. It's made a big difference for me. My Mip Map setting is 7. Basically, you've got to experiment with your graphic's card and game settings to figure out what works best for you. I guess that's what draws me to the game. As soon as I figure it out, I tinker with it, mess it up, and have to figure out how to fix it. I really need to stop that and accept it's not going to be totally perfect.Mike Franks
