>I have no experience in a dc3. I just got to reading the>learning center. Its a free swiviling tail wheel. If it has>a powered tailwheel it will not need differential breaking. There is your answer! The DC3 requires differential braking and/or asymetric thrust to steer. The tail wheel is simply a free swiveling caster with a lock for T/O.BillAVSIM OmbudsmanFounder and Director,Creative Recycling of Aircraft Partshttp://catholic-hymns.com/frbill/FS2002/images/fartslogo.jpg

Have you got the tailwheel lock turned off? If you have, then a bit of differential power and a bit of differential brake and the plane practically spins on its axis.Allcott

Hi,Try using the engines to steer, [E+1] then throttle up to turn right, [E+2] then throttle up to turn left, press E+1/2 in quick succession to throttle up both engines when you are level, then use differential braking for small adjustments. I believe that this is how you would steer a DC3 especially if you needed to turn sharply from a standing start.Hope this helpsregards

>I have another question that goes along with this. How do I>steer the dc3 on the ground. The DC-3 doesn't have a steerable tail wheel, so the only options for steering are differential power and differential braking. The rudder might also help because of the propwash, but brakes and power are most important. You might want to check out http://www.douglasdc3.com/ . That site has incredible amount of information on the DC-3, including a long article on how to taxi her. :)
