July 19, 201015 yr Commercial Member Well... it wasn't really about Aircraft and Panel Design... sooo, I'd hazard a guess they moved it to a more appropriate forum... which one... I really wouldn't know. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
July 19, 201015 yr Author Hi Ed-Yeah... isn't there usually a "moved to" message if that happens?Plus, I think it was on-topic. But I'm not the.. ah... "decider". H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 19, 201015 yr I've seen it happen before and the reason then was finger-trouble by the moderator moving it. Gerry Howard
July 20, 201015 yr Hi Andrew. So your post has gone missing ... Hmm , gremlins or perhaps someone nose out of joint .Following may be of help .(A) Avsim did a reviw of aussim piper warrior , refer : reviews -Commercial Aircraft Review- Australian Simulation Piper Warrior v2.0(:( Believed to be currently available from: fspilotshop.com and simMarket© CAUTION : I ported the old FS2004 version over to FSX Acceleration and it works fine , except when in the virtual cockpit only ,rain turns my windscreen blue . This may be fixed for the FSX version , but I do not know for certain . For me that does not cause a worry and I continue to use and enjoy it .(D) Carendo do have a Piper Arrow with 201 engine , while similar its speeds are slightly higher , plus it has the added complications of retractable undercarriage and constant speed propellor management .CheersKarol
July 20, 201015 yr Author Hi again Karol-Yeah, weird.Anyway... my last post was asking about Australian Simulations... it seems they no longer are around, as I could not find a legitimate website for them. If so, that means no product support. Not really sure what it means about the legitimacy of sales of downloaded products as well.Just wondering if they're now going under another name or something. As far as their Warrior II goes, liked what I saw. Thanks,Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 20, 201015 yr AndrewI may be wrong , but from what I gather , that product ( the warrior) was the work of just oneman who it appears has dropped out of flight simulation .The outlets listed previously are now marketing it .You could try Emailing both suppliers and check with them if the windscreen in the virtual cockpit in the FSX version is still affected by rain . Make sure you advise them which version of FSXyou are using , as they differ , as Microsoft was trying to iron out bugs in FSX .My FS2004 version is ONLY effected by rain in virtual cockpit , with no rain the windscreen is clear. Its interesting to note that the review did not mention that problem , but remember it was writtenin 2007 and I do not know which version of FSX was used in the review .CheersKarol
July 20, 201015 yr Author Thanks again for the info.Do you happen to have any contact information in the README or any of its files? I'd like to contact the developer if possible before going through an online seller.Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 20, 201015 yr Andrew The author of the warrior is Brad Disher , the only contact is the now defunctaussim address .You will have to contact the current suppliers with your enquires .CheersKarol
July 21, 201015 yr AndrewIf I may make one last observation .You are after the warrior 161 to;-Develope and enhance your cockpit familiarisation (very important).-Conduct VFR flight exercises and navigation exercises .The aussim warrior will do all of that .Personally , I strongly recommend that you buy it and utilise it as a working tool .With regardsKarol
July 21, 201015 yr AndrewOnce you have purchased the Warrior , DO NOT start serious exercises.Instead take it out and fun fly it and thoroughly thrash it , REASON you want to hardwire yourself to the feel and function and quirks of that singular aircraft .Be very daring conduct ridiculous and obscene and dangerous style of flying , overbank it ,stall it , put it into vertical dives , try to fly inverted .WHY , because what you are trying to achieve is to become one with that aircraftand to dispense with the natural retisiance that we all have initially with aircraft and especially with a new type .As I stated in my Flight Manual for my Alphasim F-111 Aardvak HUD panel , At any altitude , even down to 200' AGL , with the airspeed at about 450kts bank the aircraft. Now in the HUD , KEEP the velocity vector exactly centred on the HUD horizon bar by applying an appropriate amount of back pressure on the joystick. Note that the turn and bank ball in the PFD on LH MFD remains centred , also there will be no loss or gain in altitude . Be precise and smooth with the velocity vector . Now continue increasing the bank till 70 degrees is reached , maintain the turn for at least one complete circle . Then smoothly roll the aircraft into a similar turn in the opposite direction . Do not tolerate even a 10' altitude change , with the HUD it is both possible and even easy . The HUD VSI will indicate even the very smallest trend away from level flight , thus enabling extreme accuracy . Why do it ? (1) Simple , even in real world flying two consecutive steeply banked ( 60 degree bank ) figure eights blow away the cobwebs , dispense with the pilots natural reluctance to assume unusual attitudes and a steep turn forces the pilot to be accurate and precise . Done at a safe height a very good skill and confidence builder. (2) Precision , Accuracy and smoothness are the hallmarks of flying skills . They are what we all must constantly strive to improve and achieve . The Airforces achieve a similar effect by introducing trainees to aerobatics relativelyearly on in their training .This is the advantage of the flight simulator , you can explore the limits and develope an accommodation that that is difficult to achieve safely in the real world . After a couple of hours of this style of flying you will feel that both you and the aircraft are happily married . Then you can start your serious training exercises . CheersKarol
July 21, 201015 yr Author Karol,Thanks again!Cockpit familiarization and navigation (sans gps) is exactly what I'm looking for.I checked out in one of our club's Warriors last Sunday, so will be inevitably finding little differences, but it should serve me well. The club has 3 Warriors so I'll be experiencing a lot of those differences first-hand anyway.Looks like a good tool - I'll let you know how it goes.Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 21, 201015 yr Well... it wasn't really about Aircraft and Panel Design... sooo, I'd hazard a guess they moved it to a more appropriate forum... which one... I really wouldn't know. That would be correct, but I don't know which forum. It might have been fat fingered. This thread will likely be moved as well. Jeremy "rightseater" Fletcher
July 21, 201015 yr That would be correct, but I don't know which forum. It might have been fat fingered. This thread will likely be moved as well.Doing a search pulled up this thread in the fsx forum:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=290327&hl=It appears that no one answered and thus the thread moved down.
