July 28, 201015 yr Author Ok - bought it. Only played around for about 15 minutes... thoughts are:1) HOLY cr#p... after takeoff, IMMEDIATE, RELENTLESS SKID as the aircraft yawed left! YIKES! All the right rudder couldn't fix it, so I turned P-factor way down and it helped.2) Some of the Warrior II models didn't show any interior textures on the floor/seats.. not sure what's up with that.3) Once organized into coordinated flight... real nice, and seemed, in my short jaunt, to perform pretty nicely. Panel is great, in that it looks almost beat up enough :) and is fairly similar to the trainer I fly.Bonus: A few reviews said the aircraft seemed harder than it should be to lift off. Well... that's how the one I fly behaves... takes a pretty good pulling back on the yoke to get things started. So far so good! Thanks for the recommendation! H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
July 29, 201015 yr In the real world flying each aircraft feels and behaves differently , the same applies in flight simulation .Somtimes the differences are subtle , but generally they are remarkably different . I learnt on the Beech Mouskateer it had a loverly firm control feel , while the Warrior has a very light control force feel . The VictaAirtourer was an absolute delight to fly , but terrified me when slow on finals or just after take off , myself preservation kicked in and I added 5 knots to the book speeds much to my instructors dislike , however I didn't care as safety is the paramount issue .Surprisingly , we humans are incredibly adaptive and rapidly accomodate to an aircrafts quirks and differencesand in a very short time no longer notice them , that adaptation time can be as short as 10-15 minutes .Whether a slow GA aircraft or a fast military jet , the work exercises are basically the same , of course in a fast jet you do not have the 'time' , things happen fast and you have to keep ahead of the jet for that reason.Still you break exercises down to elements and deal with them at that level , be they , straight and level flight , or descending turns .This is what your Warrior is for , strictly a tool , not a like or dislike , not the quality of the model artwork , just a toolin which strict regimented exercises are conducted that will aid and facilitate subsequent real world cockpit drills and work. When you then go to the flightline you will be better prepared and derive more from your flights. You will have already experienced the situation where you concentrate on trying to remember checklists duringcritical phases of a flight when instead they should be known better than your own mame and your concentrationshould have been free to deal with the flight aspects and obtaining better learning returns .You should take pridein the fact that you sought to use the flight simulator in such a mature manner.Wishing you the best of luckKarol
July 29, 201015 yr Author Hi again Karol,Well, so far, it's working; spent another night in the club's Warrior last night, and using the sim has allowed me to adapt, mostly, to the cockpit layout and general performance. Since my computer isn't that great, I have to turn down some effects (ok, quite a few effects) to get the frame rate smooth enough to "feel" the aircraft, but I don't mind.Good stuff. July 30, 201015 yr AndrewIf your version of the Warrior has the windscreen problem in rain in the virtual cockpit then you might like to try the following fix :Try this fix for VC rain errorshttp://www.flight1software.com/fsxtools/f1_fsx_vcrainfix.exeA gent kindly advised me of the fix on a 'FTX forum' .I tried it on my warrior and it fixed the problem .CheersKarol

July 31, 201015 yr Thank you Fr Bill. The members on the Panel Design forum here never cease to amaze me , I enjoy studying and learning from the threads .while this thread topic may appear to be slightly off topic , I believe that it stressesthe relevance of instrument and panel design to the end application and use by the pilot.Panel/instrument design and layout and data presentation for optimum aircrew utilisationand assimilation have over the past two or so decades become a major area of study and implementation and were dramatically displayed in aircraft such as the Hornet and Grippen .I think most of us have been horrified by the chaotic panel layouts of WWII and early jets ,and their extreme number of instruments many of which were placed in severe Heads downpositions , even behind the pilot , that can lead to disorientation . Modern MFDs and HUDscan visually present the data that previously required up to twenty clock style analogueinstruments , they can if done well present the data in an intuitive manner but generally lackboth trend presentation and appeal .CheersKarol
