I have tried searching many forums for any assistance but can`t seem to get this ATC,Instructor or Pilot voice to come back up. July 26, 201015 yr Author It`s with any aircraft mate and/or any lesson I try to do or mission I am at my wits end.Cheers,Chris Depending on which aircraft you are using, check to see if your radio stack is switched on.I had this happen to me in an Aerosoft Diamond DA-20 Katana as it needs to communicate with the ATC
July 26, 201015 yr Author Yes Pic007 mate, I certainly did and the most frustrating thing here is that it is probably something so simple but I have all the correct settings, even tested my sound card, ran a diagnostic system check and everything is working and running 100% correct. I definately have the Use a pilot voice is checked box done and I am just running out of ideas. I have been on a number of forums/message boards and this is just so frustrating. I am running Vista 64 Bit,12GB RAM,1.5 TB HDD and up to date sound and video card and the presentation I get from this game is out of this world but this damn voice thing is getting to me.Cheers,Chris Did you check in Settings/General and ensure 'Use a pilot voice' is checked?
July 26, 201015 yr Author Rebuildimg the fsx.cfg file ?..How do I do that...lolI have located that file and deleted it and when FSX re-startes it comes back up and I checked everything and I have all other sounds in the game and all the engine noise and outside noise but just no instructor/ATC at all and this is driving me crazy..Cheers,Chris Tried rebuilding the fsx.cfg file? Just throwing out ideas.
July 26, 201015 yr Author Hi Guys,I am getting absolutely desperate here, does anyone have a solution for me. Short of having anyone`s baby I would be forever grateful a thousand times over as it would allow my boy to hear the instructions and continue to learn how to fly and he's only 4 and can operate a jumbo with my Logitech flight control stick like a pro...lol..Can anyone help me please ?..Just t- re state what`s going on, I have every other sound in the game, outside noise, engine noise you name it however for some reason since yesterday there has been no ATC,Instructor or Pilot voice in the cockpit and I need to get this fixed. Many Thanks,Chris
July 26, 201015 yr To be honest, if it was working before and has suddenly stopped, with nothing having changed on the system between the point when it was working and then ceased to do so, then I'd be tempted to simply re-install FSX.Of course reinstalling FSX can be a pain in the &@($*, but doing so will at least then allow you to eliminate a fault with FSX from the equation, and then you'd know it was something system-related. After that I'd be looking at sound and motherboard drivers.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 26, 201015 yr Author Thank you for that Chock, I'm looking into it now.I'm in the process of updating my Realtek sound card to the latest driver and Audio Codec from the Realtek site.I have now un-installed FSX, deleted all remnants of fsx from my system and wil re-install tomorrow and see what happens. It`s just so frustrating that everything was working fine and then all of a sudden nothing. Sound is perfect in everything else as in Windows Media Player,Itunes,DIVX media player, all still have surround 7.1 sound so this is a very frustrating issue right now.Cheers,Chris
July 26, 201015 yr If like me your having problems keeping the ATC sound volumes stable with FSX Windows 7, try this. It worked for me. Open Control Panel/Sound/Communications, Choose the "Do Nothing" option, then Apply. I guess it's reading the ATC as a phone transmission.Try this, it may work for Vista also.
July 26, 201015 yr Obviously too late to help now, but did you check the sound options to make sure voice was checked and at an appropriate volume? It may have been accidently unchecked. That happened to me once. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
August 1, 201015 yr I have the same problem. None of the above solutions helped. I am running FSX with the acceleration on Win 7 64bits. Everything was working fine then all of the sudden no voices from the instructor in lessons, the instructor in missions and the ATC. Disabled all programs and did clean start-up per microsoft website to no avail. Uninstalled and when I was re-installing I did the following: after installing the main program (without the acceleration pack) there were no voices, I then installed the acceleration pack and I got my voices back!!!! Well I kept everything the same (in terms of startup programs checked with the msconfig) and after one day and all of the sudden, no voices.Help!!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking of buying the gold edition to hopefully get rid of the problem, would that help??????Thank you
August 8, 201015 yr Author Hi Everyone,I have been away for a bit from Flight Sim for nearly 2 weeks, just busy with work and stuff but what I have now done is remove any remnants of Flight Sim from my PC and I am going to try and re-install later tonight.Cheers,Chris
November 18, 201015 yr I had the same problem with ATC sound. I had my FSX on a XP Pro machine and then I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I would hear the engine noise and, when I tried to communicate with ATC, the engine sound went off and couldn't hear the ATC voice. I installed FSX SP1 and FSX SP2 and the problem was fixed. Hope this helps.
