Weather Radar in the MD-11

Recommended Posts

I have implemented the RealityXP Weather Radar into one of the MD-11 Displays.I know it is not original or real, but its better than nothing.This "mod" only works, if you have (or will) one or more of the F/O Displays disabled.I had the both F/O Displays disabled because I don't need them and will gain a few frames.Now I had the idea, that I can use one for the WXR.md11wxr.jpgI think, if you own the RealityXP WXR500, then you have it already installed to one of your aircrafts.If not, install it to one of the standard FSX planes...then go to your MD11 folder inProgram Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG_MD11copy from your other plane with the WXR the RXPWX500.ini into this folder (pax version) AND the PMDG_MD11F folder (freighter version)open it with editorthere must be the lines:[sETTINGS]Wx500Popup=15500NoFrame=Onif not, change it (especially NoFrame=ON)go into MD-11s panel folder (pax version)copy from your other plane the RXPSTACK.ini into the panel folderand open the panel.cfgscroll down to //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// VC SECTION////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////[VCockpit01]gauge00=PMDG_MD11!DU,0,0,341,349, 1 ONE VCgauge01=PMDG_MD11!DU,341,0,341,349, 1 TWO VCgauge02=PMDG_MD11!DU,682,0,341,349, 1 THREE VCgauge03=PMDG_MD11!DU,0,350,341,349, 1 FOUR VC//gauge04=PMDG_MD11!DU,341,350,341,349, 1 FIVE VCgauge04=rxpWX500!RDR, 356, 410, 310, 210//gauge05=PMDG_MD11!DU,682,350,341,349, 1 SIX VCgauge06=PMDG_MD11!RADIO_VC, 1,703,344,311, VCchange the red lines according to the above codeif you want to disable F/Os PFD (gauge05), make the "//" in front of the line (like the blue above)note: the WXR is "invisible" when you load the MD11. Hover over the display with your mouse and the green dots will come visible and you can switch on the WXRalso note: you just need to edit the panel.cfg of the MD11 Pax version!if you like to have the WXR as 2D popup, too, do the following in the panel.cfg:scroll down to [window10]and replace the original with this complete part

// FCP window F/0////[window10]//BACKGROUND_COLOR=8,8,8//size_mm=807,249//window_pos=0.0, 0.37583333 // 800,451//visible=0//ident=9003//zorder=3//gauge00=PMDG_MD11!FCP, 0, 0, 807, 249, 5 FO// WXR500--------------------------------[Window10]window_pos=0.687500,0.687500window_size=0.312500,0.312500visible=1ident=15500zorder=99gauge00=rxpWX500!RDR,0,5,100,100
you can open the WXR 2D via WXR500 configurated Shortcuts of you own FSUIPC registered version and can assign a joy button with "panel ID toggle" with the parameter 15500and now the most important:don't do things you are not sure about!!!Backup your files before changing!!!don't blame PMDG or me for anything what went wrong to your beloved addons!!!hope you enjoy it!Guenter

Sweet, thanks for this. I had the help of Hodge a while back do similar but this looks great. I originally wanted to do the same but have it on my Standby Alt display, although that was small I would have been able to resize if I wanted. Thanks again!

Hi guenseli, do you know f it's possible to add Milviz/REX WX Radar into MD-11? Would be a good ide to put it between FMC.
