Which do you use on Windows 7 64bit? (RC4 vs PFE)

Recommended Posts

PFE in Win7 Home Premium 64 bits. No problem at all. I don't remember if I've set any compatibility mode, or if I gave PFE administrator rights (I'm at work). Anyway, it works with no problem.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

I've got PFE and added the upgrade pack provided by Oncourse. Unfortunately when the ADV file gets built, my app hangs. RC4 also hangs whenever I try to switch freqs to either get clearance or switch to WX. Not sure what's happening in either case, but it's completely shut down my rebuild project. With PFE, I've done everything I know possible to get it to work (run as admin, compatibility mode, etc) and still no joy. About the only thing I can think of with RC4 is maybe the current version of FSUIPC (unregistered) is not functioning properly.Which version of FSUIPC do you guys have installed? Did you do anything special with it from a permissions perspective?

You should have FSUIPC 3.98 or later for FS9 (and Makerwys 4.41 for FS9 and FSX). RC should be started with a shortcut having its run as admin property set. It is also essential that FS9 be started with a run as admin property. If you still have issues browse the RC support forum on AVSIM paying particular attention to the pinned topics at the forum head.

Now that I remember, I've set PFE in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode, no admin rights at all. I also set PFE folder with full control for users. Hope this helps.Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

Hi,I will be receiving my new PC with Win 7 Home Premium next week and as a XP 32 guy I really do not know what these terms mean. Could you help me get in gear for my new rig, please?

You'll find that with Windows 7, half the stuff that worked fine in WinXP will no longer work as expected. This is due in part to the user access control and the 'sandbox' nature in which Windows 7 was frameworked with. This requires you to run almost every single program 'as administrator' by right clicking the binary and choosing the option or by choosing properties and enabling "run this program as Administrator". It's been a massive whipping for me so far as you can probably tell.

I've got the latest PFE and Windows 7, and I didn't need to run it that way. I did have to install it as an administrator, though, and took some patience to get installed correctly. Works fine for me now.
