August 17, 201015 yr Hi guys, I know PMDG doesn't have any amphibious aircraft, at least not yet but I am trying to build up enough bucks to buy the JS41 for my virtual company and have flown 100+ hours in the past few weeks in the C182 and Moony that's starting to bore me a bit. I would like to break up the monotimy a little and start some harbor to harbor flights but after search after search after search cannot find anyway to come up with anything. Am I even using the right name in my searches "Air Harbors"? I have flown a few in Washington and they look great with FTX's touches, but does anyone know an easier way to locate them? So far all I can do is zoom in on maps and squint in hopes to find something. I was hoping the airport ident may have been different in some way to indicate them but apparently not. Once I can finally afford the JS41 it will keep me more than content until I can afford the MD-11 and then the Queen etc...Anyway, if there is a better way than I am doing, please let me know. If not and you know of any please post the name for me! It would be great, thanks.Bonus question for a real pilot:If you have an amphibious, or float plane and were flying a VFR route. Could you just drop out of the sky and land on a lake at will? I would imagine you would be in contact with someone even in VFR (I really don't know from not being a pilot). I would imagine some bodies of water may be private but from all the charts/notams and things that I see I don't see anything saying restrictions on lakes and ponds etc (Big ponds like near my house, more than enough to land a piper cub). i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
August 18, 201015 yr Perhaps 'air harbor' might not be the right thing to search for. A seaplane base is what you're probably looking for in the case of an amphibious airplane. The symbol would be an anchor on VFR charts.Check out http://skyvector.com and pull out the chart for Washington, assuming that's where you're flying (FTX). There are a few seaplane bases north-west of PAE if you look at the maps. This would probably be of interest to you: http://www.ourairports.com/countries/US/WA/airports.html?start=0&max=50&show=seaplaneHope this helps. Erik L.
August 18, 201015 yr I think this is what you're looking for...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0D690E1A-F808-4CCB-88A6-232E9ACBC90D&displaylang=en&displaylang=enAs far as I can tell it's a list of all the water runways included in FSX. Might even do a couple of water hops myself :(

I should have posted this days ago but thought I could figure it out, haha - not. That site Skyvector is great! I think I'll use that for now on. I have been using http://www.runwayfinder.com but skyvector has some better elements I really could use.I think this is what you're looking for...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0D690E1A-F808-4CCB-88A6-232E9ACBC90D&displaylang=en&displaylang=enAs far as I can tell it's a list of all the water runways included in FSX. The only floatplane I have is the A2A Piper and with only 1 passenger would take ages to build up any coin but it should break things up a bit, thanks again, this is sweet! i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
August 18, 201015 yr While not a pilot, I have seen a float plane on a lake in Wisconsin that does not have any aircraft facilities. I guess you would just have to get on the local UNICOM to announce your intentions prior to landing or takeoff. I really wish I had my camera that day as it is the only time I have seen a plane on White Lake. Supporter GhostRecon.net | AGgReSsion WhiteKnight77's Place Mike Shannon
August 18, 201015 yr Author Thanks again guys, this pdf is a great resource. Something I'll hang on to for a long time. It's nice to try out some puddle jumping for a change and going a whopping 55 knots really gives me time to check out some of the detail of some of my other addons. Although at this rate I won't be able to afford the JS41 for about 800,000 more flight :PJust a couple screenies I just took (click the number):1, 2, 3, 4, 5 i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
