Ryan, can we expect the update this week, or is Robert too busy with the races. I want to know so I stop coming on here so often and get some work done :). And also so I stop dreaming about it at night and waking up dissapointed that it was only a dream! Lol:)
I would not expect it this week, sorry.

The loudest fighter I have ever heard is the retired SAAB JA37 VIGGEN (knickname: thunderboult) doing a "hunter take off". If you haven't seen this in action, with locked brakes the JTD8-D is reved up to full power (trimmed original engine of MD-80) then the 3-stage afterburner (output diameter of 1,2m) is fuly lit with a fuelflow of 68000l/h. Actually it was forbidden by law in Sweden to lit the 3rd stage of the afterburner in piecetime because it looked like a "tornado" had moved through the countryside after the flight. After that the nose weel shock absorber is compressed and then the brakes are realesed. The nose wheel shock absorber expands so the airplane gets a positive AOA and accelerates until liftoff after 150m. After that it goes up to 33000ft in 1min and 40sek.This airplane does the coolest short field landings also. With a glideslope sink rate of 2500m/min (I think around 20°) nonstop until main wheel tuchdown then autoreverser and 100% thrust on the JTD8-D with full brakes. 250km/h to fully stop in 150m.

I've experienced an F-4 Wild Weasel fly-by at something like 50-100 feet - loudest thing ever. Loudest airliner I've actually heard in person was probably a 727 without the hush kits.

Thanks Ryan for the above update. The loudest aircraft I've heard is the B-1 ay full after burner 100 meters away with the wind blowing the noise and heat right into my face. Felt like an earthquake came through and then had a face full of the air ands heat from those engines.

and the biggest grin in your face, unable to remove it for the next 3 hours minimum. :)

So if this was a " First in a series" and the second update is a month later I ask myself are we even going to see the NGX this year? The road map was NGX "summer" 777 for Christmas. That road map has gone south.

They never mentioned 'summer' or 'christmas', only that the, then targeted release date for the NGX was 'mid 2010', and the 777 I think was end of 2010 or beginning of 2011 and with the usual disclaimer that release dates were tentative and subject to change.

my money is on early next year. These updates are delay tactics to prevent people losing hope. I love what PMDG does with their products but don't like the way they keep customers in the dark about where the production of the software is at. I would trade the updates for a rough idea on where the production stage is at. We all agree it's going to be awesome. There is no need to emphasize this anymore than has already been done through the slivers but the question on everybodys mind is how much longer. It doesn't have to be a certain date or certain month. I'd be happy with quarter. This quarter or next or the next after that one. How about showing us eager customers a little more respect and give us a 'sliver' on time frames to release.Mike Kendall

I dont think the 777 will see the light if day for another year at least. Those tenative release dates were pie in the sky dreams the minute he hit the submit button on that message. Makes Level D look very wise not saying anything about the 757. Dev's should never say anything about dates. Makes for a forum full of disgruntled users. Dont think so? Wait till December rolls around and it is still in beta.

i think the 737 will release mid-late october, then the 777 will 4-5 months after, as PMDG said that things from the NGX can be used and they have this super development program.

Well mid 2010 is the summer and when I last looked up Christmas it was damm close to end of year. Ofc there is a disclaimer and ofc its late, but like Mike Kendall above post we all agree it will be the best, so like him I dont need more " XXXXX in a series" just some good idea of when we will see it.

It is not like they do it on purpose.. I know from our own development sometimes things slip, life happens. They are dealing with a lot more code than most companies as well.. which I am sure can take awhile to fix. Do not really know where to put the date, but from the screens it looks like the VC is pretty much completed (granted we have only seen slivers, but it looks like all the gauges are in place in those slivers and it is compiled). If anything the exterior of the aircraft/textures are the easiest bits so not to worried about that. Is coding all the cool toys and features that takes the longest.

What do you think mid 2010 means? Sounds like summer in the states. :\

I saw the same thing about the tenative release dates, A video on YouTube showing the Boeing 747-8i(which has been released) 737NGX mid 2010 release and 777 late 2010 or early 2011. I'll find the video and post it here.
